  1. Does anyone know of a fishing club in the Hagerstown area?
  2. Went out on the Potomac this morning. Went up stream from Williamsport. Caught a couple of smallies and a few blue gills. Didn't get skunked but didn't catch anything of any size either. Biggest fish was maybe a pound.
  3. Got out on Friday on a just purchased kayak. Put in at Devils Backbone and paddled up the Antietam about 3/4 mile and floated back down. Caught a couple of smallies, a couple of bluegills and a crappie (I think). Nice maiden voyage! Plan on putting in on the Potomac at Williamsport and fishing the banks upstream for a while. Then paddling up the Conococheague and testing out that creek next weekend.
  4. Good morning y'all. Has anyone here ever fished the pond the Pangborn park in hagerstown? Or the pond in Burkitsville (on Rt. 17)? Or the mini lake (3-4 acres) between Brunswick & Burkitsville? It's just off Rt. 17 where the road makes the two 90 degree turns. The lake is hidden behind corn fields. Trying to find some unpressured fishing spots.
  5. I'm hoping to get out to Devils Backbone this Saturday and try out my new waders, boots & a couple Rapala lures I picked up last weekend. Hopefully I'll have some fish pics to show for it.
  6. Welcome spiggy212, There is a lot of good info here. How do you get at the fish? Fish from the bank, kayak, boat or wade? With a canoe or yak there is good fishing in Antietam creek (put in at Devils Back bone on Rt. 68) There is Greenbrier state park, good for boat, yak or bank fishing. There is Beaver Creek which is mostly trout fishing. There is the Monocacy River (Frederick) good canoe & yak fishing. Put in at Mouth of the Monocacy Park. Many places on the Potomac, good wade fishing for smallies this time of year. There is a small pond (Hamburg Pond) in Gambril park. I've caught a few nice smallies there. Good luck and let me know how you make out with the fishing, Webbster
  7. I have been wanting to do that trip also. What do you use to float?
  8. I am headed down to Frederick tomorrow morning to get some fishing in. Gonna try and be there around 9:30 - 10:00. Maybe I'll see y'all there.
  9. Bill thanks for the information. I have an inflatable Sevylor kayak, 14' Jon boat and a set of waders and boots. I also enjoy fishing from the bank. I purchased a book by Steve Moore "wade and shoreline fishing the Potomac river for smallmouth bass". I am studying that and have a few places picked out that I to try. I have almost finished my outrigger system for the Jon boat and should be ready for a trial run by this Friday. I am looking forward to your recommendations for the Potomac. Happy Fishing
  10. Thanks Basser. I'm still a newbie at fishing. I search the web for info and then just hit a local spot and try to put the info to use. It's all trial and error at this point and some days it feels like it's all errors. Try to get some fishing in at least once a week. So if anyone has tips or possible locations they would like to pass on I'm open to most anything. My local places at this time (in order of # of visits) 1. Greenbrier 2. Devils backbone 3. Blair Valley 4. Indian Springs Haven't really tried the Potomac yet I've always thought it was a more advanced level of fishing. Thanks for listening to my ramblings. Brent
  11. Went out last Saturday, just to enjoy some time outside and wet a line. Fished at Indian Springs pond and waded in at Devils Backbone. Tried spinners, plastic 3" shad color & various fly patterns, got 2 bites. One on spinner & the other on the plastic. Not much of a day but it was great being outside! Anyone wanna go fishin?
  12. There is nice tourney up at Ft. Richie. April 26, May 3 & 17. Http://www.Frcc.org for info.
