  1. I think its more personal preference, bring what you have and see how you work with it. You will learn more from your own experiences than from others on the forum. What works for them or me may not work for you. You may realize, you may want 10 more combos, or 2 less combos. You also have to take in account how much tackle you want with you as well. Get on the water and after a couple trips i bet you will have a better idea than you think. Good luck bud!
  2. For all my knots I use improved clinch knot and never have an issue, ever. I wet before i clinch it tight and i literally have never had a problem and I set the hook hard. The only times I use a different knot is when im using a flippin hook, then i use snell knot. I have used the more expensive fluoro but right now most my rods with fluoro have Red Label and I cant even list one complaint. Hope you figure it out!
  3. Myself and many others have used red label with great success, I've come to the realization that most people that have had issues with it was just user error. Maybe you did spool correctly, or maybe not. Try letting the majority of your line out on the water(no lures or anything on), then reel it all back on. Red label is great line once you get it right. Good luck!
  4. Yes it does come in that gear ratio but only for Right Hand. It seems everything i read, people love the rocket a lot but some do say its too fast
  5. I guess im torn between the 2 mainly because the rocket just looks nice, the color and the carbon handle is beautiful. Even the STX looks nice though, that red though!!! lol
  6. Would love to see if someone just owns both and what they have to say
  7. STX 7.1 is 29" and the Rocket is 37" Im just trying to figure out if spending the extra is worth it for that crazy speed. I know its perfect for punchin/flippin/froggin, but is that speed too much for everything else?
  8. Debating on which one to order, have been research, reading reviews, watching videos, seems both reels are quite similar. Only noted difference is handles, gear ratio. If i go STX, it will be 7.1. Does anyone have both reels and might have input or would like to give their thoughts on the 2? Anything would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys.
  9. I would stick with medium if you want a medium, they may be slightly on the stiffer side but not like some companies where they are waaayyyy stiffer, aka abu!
  10. As much as you can! It's an addiction! Lol
  11. I own a 7'1" MH fast that I love. A bit on the more stiffer side, but all in all its a nice rod.
  12. True, I wasnt really motivated to buy though lol.
  13. I was able to look at some at the store but unfortunately those huge heavy security things were on them so I cant tell if balance was better or not. I am sure i could have asked to have one removed but oh well.
  14. Nice, fantastic reels indeed, have the tournament edition, never trade it for the world
  15. I fish in kayak bass tournaments here and use rods from 6'6" to 7'1". I have realized that the butt length of my rod is what makes or breaks it for me on the yak, my 7'1" is an Abu villain MH and it is an amazing rod but the butt length is a hair too long for me, if I'm fishing from a boat standing then the issue is nonexistent. So whenever I buy a new rod, I start choosing first by how long that butt end is. Hope this helps!
  16. Anywhere from 6'6" to 7'2" MF or MXF, 10-15lb fluoro, spin or cast! I've fished tubes in multiple setups in that range and all worked very well. Good luck!
  17. I own 3 of the black model carbonlites, one casting, 2 spinning and a crankin stick, love these rods and they work great. I also have a Pro Qualifier tournemnent reel that is on my crankin stick, I can cast super light lures far with no issues. Stick to higher end models and you will love them.
  18. I am also bummed about that, such a great rod.
  19. For casting rod I use my Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth 6'10" MF, I can sling tiny poppers with this rod.
  20. Rod I have atm if i want to throw wacky is my 6'8" M/XF, size 1000 reel, 8lb fluoro. Such a light setup and love using it, Spinning of course. I could use a baitcaster with ease but prefer the spinning more for this technique.
  21. Unless youre sponsored by a company, there is no need to stick with only one, i feel you just limit yourself at that point.
  22. I like using mono or yo zuri, mono is typically the go to for topwater treble baits. I liked both though and have no complaints between the two
  23. Thanks guys, ill look into that and see.
  24. Make sure to double check that the bearings are not packed with grease, clean them out real good and put provided oil instead.
  25. What is MAP? I feel like i know this but having a brain fart here?
