  1. A few years ago I picked up a 7'6" heavy bass pro enigma smart cast rod and really like it for flipping/punching and the occasional A-rig but since then I have not been able to find these rods. I've searched bass pro and have only found the bait casting reels so maybe they came as a combo and the reels where taken off for some reason and the rods were sold at a discount separate. I have even done google searches but the only thing that comes up is Aaron Martens new rods with Enigma, it's as if the rod has never existed. Does anyone know anything about these rods from bass pro?
  2. I have had this problem as well and with my experience the rebels circled when cranking too fast but work just fine when cranked moderately...as for the others I would try to return them and try with another lure if it continues to happen adjust your cranking speed and see what happens
  3. I grew up on Carlyle and areas that usually produce are fishing the rip rap of the Dam from the beach to about the fifth light post on top of the dam, the outside rip rap wall of the marina just down the beach from the main dam fishing cranks, there are also brush piles sunk off the point of that wall, there is a small boat ramp at the back of a cove called Apache that has a large reef of sunken Christmas trees that is always good for a few sorry it's not very detailed those are just the spots that I can remember it's been a few years since I have fished there
  4. Lighter line and lighter weight lures work much better with spinning gear to cast and skip. I also feel the bite is easier to detect with spinning while using these lighter lures and line vs using casting
  5. I bought the 1/16th black heads with silver sparkle flake because that's all I could find and cut a 5" yum dinger in half and I fish it pretty similar to a shaky head I don't know if it's right or wrong but it works. There's only one way to find out about the Rage Craw
  6. I bought a new spinning set up and some Ned rig items from a new gander mountain that opened up in Marion IL and decided to give it a go earlier today. I fished for and hour with my casting gear with jigs, plastics, etc and had no bites so I decided to try out my new rig and first cast I hooked up. I caught didn't catch any real good size today but I caught good numbers. I fished floating docks and all my strikes came on the pillers when I hopped it then gave it some shakes so needless to say I am a big believer in the Ned rig and a big thanks to Glenn and many others on the forum for their input i can't wait to get back out there!
  7. Hello my name is Cody and I'm an angling addict...I've fished most of my life in Southern Illinois on Carlyle Lake for crappie and bluegill when I was younger and have recently in the past 3-4 years become more of bass fisherman. I'm now 23 years old and finishing up school down at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and fish most lakes down here, Crab Orchard Lake, Devils Kitchen lake, and Kinkaid Lake. I've been on the site for a while and have learned at lot over the past year from very knowledgeable anglers here on BR and hope to continue to learn and pass my knowledge on to others.
