  1. I have seen people swing fish from the bank onto concrete and let them fall on it and sit there while they take their merry time taking a picture, and then put them back in the water and act surprised when they dont swim away. If you are going to release fish, please do it properly.
  2. I love fishing for and catching carp, but they are ugly as heck...
  3. The Tatulas are great reels, no doubt there. If you are looking to spend a little more, wait and get a new Curado I, Ive heard they are great! Also, if you want it right away, you should really consider a shimano Citica or Curado.
  4. What do you think the best colors for frogs are. If it helps any, i live in Ontario. I normally use the Koppers Livetarget fogs over weedbeds and mats. Thanks a bunch
  5. Rapala clackin crank and storm arashi Jitterbug and x rap walk Rapala rippin rap Rapala x-rap
  6. Try a St Croix Avid cranking rod, 7` MH, with a Lews tournament Speed spool 5.4:1 gear ratio with 12 pound sunline fluorocarbon. Awesome all around cranking rod.
  7. I made a spoon out of a dime, drilled two holes in it, put a split ring on one side for a line tie, and a split ring with a small treble hook on the second hole. Caught some GIANT crappies jigging it off a dock, and also a few rock bass. pretty rewarding to catch fish on a lure you made.
  8. Try tuf-line tuf leader. Its is a wire leader, but it has very similar characteristics to braid. Thought it might work.
  9. It depends on the conditions, fishing shorelines coming off of islands, rough bottom in shallow water etc. i will always be using a ribbontail, fising weeds, wood and heavier cover, i will be using a jig. For the worm, i like a medium acion rod, and for the jig a medium heavy or heavy, depending on how heavy the cover is. One exception is that in deep water situations with rough bottom and finnicky fish, i will almost always be throwing a Big 1/2oz-1oz football jig.
  10. Ish, Ike, Paulaniuk they all seem like great guys.
  11. All you need is one with a white and red belly for daytime and one with a black and red belly for nightime. Just make sure you have some red in there , it looks like blood to the fish. If you dont have red on it, just get some red nailpolish and put some streaks of red down the belly. In my opinion, design on top doesnt matter at all. Good luck with your topwater fishing.
  12. Always go for a trailer that looks a little too big. It will work well on bigger jigs, and you can always trim the back end down. Instead of getting 2 packs you can get one pack of higher quality ones. Good luck with your jig fishing.
  13. Havent caught a bass yet, but i went ice fishing for perch and i caught one on a rod that i made ot of a piece of a broken Avid. Had a Daiwa Procyon on it with 6lb braid.
  14. Why did the chicken cross the road...
  15. I love the Rapala Rippin' Rap in both sizes (7/8thoz and 1/2oz). Any natural color works well, along with chrome colors. Those are really the only lipless crankbaits i use anymore, but for a little cheaper ExCalibur lipless cranks are pretty good. I also prefer the ExCaliburs for vertical/ice fishing because it has a very tight wiggle. Both are great baits, and i have caught nice fish on both.
  16. X2. Try swimming it slowly with a twin tail trailer near or right above the bottom. It is basically the same presentation as dragging it but you wont get caught up in lots of gunk.
  17. Storm Arashi 3 and 5 in Bluegill and Hot Blue Shad colors. Powerbait jerkshads in Watermelon pearl, assorted Rapala DT series crankbaits, swim jig and a finnese jig and some Jackall Cover Craws. Also appropriate hooks and weights.
  18. Powerbait Realistix Jerk shad in Watermelon Pearl rigged on a 3/0 or 4/0 VMC Fastgrip wide gap hook.
  19. No need for a leader unless you are fishing in super clear water or you have a lot of Pike/Muskie where you fish. If you really want one, 12 pound mono sounds good. Try Berkley Trilene Big Game mono, you won't be sorry.
  20. The only time that i use split shot on my crankbaits is trolling an Original Rapala for walleyes. Gets it down a little deeper. I wouldnt reccoment it for casting, unless you know where to place it. Search 'split shot and crankbait' or something like that on Youtube, you will probably get a lot of info there.
  21. I think it's a great idea!
  22. Thanks a lot for your help, i really appreciate it.
  23. I think i understand... but when i see the bottom, is that a cross section of the bottom behind the transducer?
  24. Sorry if this is confusing, but i just got into fishfinders, and i am quite confused. when i look at the screen of a standard fishfinder (Humminbird 570) i don't where the things i am seeing on the screen are. Are they in front of the boat, behind the boat, under the boat, on Mars, etc.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
