  1. I prefer a full size reel. High drag poundage, Large handle, and lots of power. A shallow spool would also be advantageous. This is coming from a guy who managed to catch a sucker punching with a jig(he ate it in the mouth) so discount everything I just said.
  2. Nice ones! Maybe if I can weed through all the muskies in my lake, I can catch a pike. (I know, it seems weird).
  3. Gold spinners seem to produce very well for me. A split shot rigged wooly bugger fly is also a great technique.
  4. 2 lb Fireline is actually one of the best handling lines I have ever used. On a 20 sized pflueger reel, it handles perfectly. I have tried 1lb mono, but too many break offs. Just set your drag light when you hook a bass though...
  5. I use a 6'8" light Fenwick river runner, and a 6'6" loomis trout rod. If there is a lot of brush around where you fish, go with a shorter rod, if there is less brush, I would go with a longer rod. The loomis has a softer action, so I prefer that for smaller trout so that I don't pull the small jig or spinner hooks out of their mouths. I prefer the Fenwick when I am dealing with slightly larger fish, because it has a somewhat faster action so I can get a more solid hookset. I prefer shorter rods, because I can be very accurate with them, so I if I see a fish rising, I can make a cast right to that fish. There is also a lot of brush around the shorelines where I fish, so a shorter rod is more convenient. Pair it with a small spinning reel, and a thin line. I prefer braid with a fluorocarbon leader. I use 4-6 lb Berkley Fireline, with a 4-8lb Seaguar fluorocarbon leader. Hope this helps.
  6. Fishing for GIANT steelhead with small flies and plastics in tiny creeks.
  7. In the topwater frog category it says 11.5lbs- 15". Must have been a fatty!
  8. I have a buddy who trolls deep cranks along shorelines. He catches big fish. Not many, but they're big.
  9. Remember when shaky heads were called jigheads.
  10. Higher price point go st croix, lower price point go Fenwick.
  11. Try trolling slower, and if that doesn't work, use a swivel
  12. Chronarch ci4 is great. Smooth and light.
  13. Gagnon sports is a great store. It's right by my favourite salmon and steelhead stream too. I would say buy it, I have heard some great things about it.
  14. My perfect rod is a 5.5 foot UL glass spinning rod. No joke. Not the most versatile rod, but I have had it for the longest out of all my rods, and it feels the most natural to me.
  15. Something like that, but maybe a little more aggressive.
  16. They work great. But the smell gives me a headache...
  17. Something that I am struggling to find a definition of.
  18. 25 size reel should be perfect. I would look at a fenwick eagle for the rod. I have heard some great things about it, and it fits right in your price range.
  19. Rock bass are a true bass. So are white bass.
  20. It is impressive how they can always make improvements.
