It looks great, like a small caddis larva. I don't think it's possible to tie a perfect size 30 fly, but yours is much better than any small midges I could tie.
I will be making a trip down to Cuba in a few weeks, and I know that where we are going, there are loads of needlefish. Last time I was there, they would chase my lures right up to the shore, but never actually bite them. They are a cool looking fish, and I would love to catch one. Any suggestions?
I use it for pier casting king salmon in early fall. I have never broken it on a salmon, so I would be really surprised if I broke if I broke it on a bass.
Better yet, dont take them out of the water. On the rare occasion I measure a fish, it is done completely in the water. Photos are also now done in the water. I never weight fish. Most of the time, there's is no need to take them out of the water for any time at all. I never understood why some people weigh and measure everything they catch, but to each their own.
I have an FJ and it handles big fresh king salmon no problem. A friend of mine has the ci4. Honestly, get whichever is cheaper, IMO there isn't enough difference between the two to justify paying much extra.

During these past few weeks, I have been doing a LOT of tying. Here are some of the projects I have finished:
Bucktail jig set:
Steelhead box:
Micro jig box:
Trout nymph box:
Misc. box (emergers, carp flies, streamers):
Enjoy!
