  1. Powell inferno 7’6” mh fast swimbait rod rated 3/8 to 3 oz. Nice rod for the money, fairly light and sensitive, handles the weight ratings well and I really like the shorter handle. Paired with a Quantum smoke S3 casting reel. My first Quantum baitcaster and my favorite in my arsenal. Awesome reel imo. This is my second season with this setup and absolutely love it. Works well with many techniques/lures. Ive thrown hudd68, spro rat 40, whopper plopper 110, s waver 168, Jigs, spinnerbaits, t-rigs, hollow body frogs. And comes in under your budget.
  2. I fish out of an 8’ bass hunter boat, I bring 4 to 6 setups depending on the lake.
  3. I use red with some orange and black mixed in quite often with a biz baits cutter craw in ambers and ash color. Works really well in my waters.?
  4. This has been my go to the last couple years, great for timber. V&M Cliff Pace The Adrenaline Pacemaker Flippin Jig
  5. Congrats, enjoy the high!
  6. Should be an exciting year☝️
  7. Welcome, enjoy the forums and wealth of information.
  8. For what you describe I use my 6’9” Abu Vendetta mh fast, paired with a Lews tournament MB 7.5:1 with 16 lb sunline sniper.
  9. I use braid in 15, 20 and 30 lb on all my spinning, no leaders.
  10. This is what I use also.
  11. For what you describe, ld use the mh rod paired with flouro in the 14lb to 18lb
  12. Id recommend a quantum smoke S3 for what you describe. Picked one up last year based on a ton of positive reviews and am loving it. Has 25 lb max drag, holds a good amount of line for its small profile 150 yds of 14 lb mono, weighs 6.9 oz and casts amazingly. It has performed flawlessly for one season so far throwing baits like the spro rat 40, whopper plopper 110, S-Waver 168. Actually thinking about replacing all my Lews with these.
  13. Ahh...to be able to catch a few bass......but unfortunately it’s still snowing!?. Nice going mike.
  14. Congrats on your first win! Nice job.
  15. Personal preference: for what you describe Id use 14/16 sniper for light to moderate cover.
  16. Some of the soft body frogs might work for you. check out the big bite baits swimming momma ?
