  1. All my rods are between 6' and 6'8" as I like using the shorter rods better, but to each his own.
  2. I use the yellow pp on a few setups, I love it. I color the first 5 to 10 feet with a black marker also, and sometimes use a floro leader when I feel necessary . I also color 1/3 of the line on the spool with black marker, so when you cast and your line is out it is even easier to see the slightest twitch this way.
  3. I don't kiss bass.
  4. I throw my frogs in and around cover....mostly in cover. (Laydowns , lily pads ect.).
  5. Welcome !
  6. You'll be pumped up for a few days with that one. Nice going, definitely pitch t/rigged plastics in all kind of cover, many bass to be had.
  7. I wish! Welcome nick, I've seen you on nyb , this is a much more active site. Enjoy it.
  8. Pepper custom baits
  9. I use a MH 6'6" bps graphite series spinning rod that cost $39. With an an Abu Garcia orra spinning reel spooled with 40 lb PP. I can cast hollow body frogs a ton and send bass up to 1.25 lb flying through the air. Plenty of power and I'm very happy with this setup. Also can be used for spinner baits, buzz baits, weighted soft plastics and jigs. Although I use a more sensitive rog for my jig fishing. Tight lines.
  10. Thinking of purchasing from this local NY merchant a 6'8" mh casting rod to be paired with a bps pro qualifier bc reel and mainly used for 1/4 to 3/8 oz jigs. My question is does anyone know if their rod blanks are the same between the maestro and hot rod series with just different components (reel seats, guides ect) or are the blanks them selves also different. Any one with experience with these rods and their sensitivity please chime in. Any and all help much appreciated .
  11. Hello and welcome!
  12. I like to t/rig the pit boss and when they get beat up, cut off the end and use it as a jig trailer . Also have done well t/rigging the smash tube. I pitch them in cover ( laydowns, lily pads)
  13. Welcome fellow NYer, lots of great info here, enjoy it!
  14. Definitely throw that frog in the middle of heavy pads and laydowns, you'll be missing out on catching more bass if you don't . I use 40 lb braid but most guys I know use 50 or 65. Don't know if your fishing from shore or a boat but sometimes you gotta go in the cover to get them out.
  15. I bought my first boat about 20 years ago, an 8' bass hunter pontoon style that i still use today when fishing solo.
  16. My 3 largest fish came on three different lures. Largest came on a jig Second-largest on a squarebill crankbait. Third-largest on a hollow body popping frog. I agree with what has been said by others already , you have to be at the right place at the right time. And hopefully there are large bass in that particular water you are fishing.
  17. I like the ambers and browns .
  18. Just to up date......we still have not had one 90' day yet and I'm thankful for that.
  19. 1/4 oz war eagle flipping jig in pond scum perch color with a paca chunk trailer
  20. Definitely soft plastics for me.
