  1. Sometimes bass will try to rip the claws off before eating them as tom mentioned. you were reeling up your jig with no claws on the tralior. i have experience this and had to be more patient with my hook sets. it felt like they were throwing it around down there ( like pecking at it) trying to declaw them then I would get a larger thump and then procede to set the hook, it worked.
  2. My reels are atleast a 7.1:1 or higher gear ratio, I can't stand slow reels.
  3. Welcome, enjoy the forums.
  4. Beautiful bass, nice job.
  5. I don't subscribe either. I use all graphite rods with F or XF actions for EVERYTHING.
  6. I use an Abu Garcia vendetta- 6'9" MH/ F with a lews team pro 7.1:1 spooled with 16 lb sniper.

  9. Yes, I stay with th k.i.s.s. approach. It's been working well for me close to 35 years now of bass fishing. And if I use 20 percent of what's in there in a days fishing, that would be high.

  12. I was bored and curious this morning so I did go into the garage and weigh my two boxes I take on the boat. plano over/under 13.9 lbs. soft plastic binder 9.10 lbs.

  15. Hey guys, any one own or has used this new unit yet. The garmin striker 7sv. looking to purchase my first quality fish finder and my research has found this to be the least expensive at $499 , with the largest screen 7" that does have side imaging. If I'm wrong please correct me. I have been using one of the fishin buddy models for some years now and honestly it's close to useless. I fish small ( 20 to 200 acres) trolling motor only lakes in which a couple do have depths approaching 40 ft, but most are under 10 ft. Looking for the best bang for the buck for side imaging with screen size. All help is much appreciated.
  16. It was just ok IMO . picked up a lews team pro 7.1:1 some eagle claw flipping and swimbait hooks and 10 bags of the pit boss.
