  1. say for example you are fishing a 6" plastic worm. if you are fishing a piece of structure, i.e. a dropoff or something, what is the difference between texas rigging the worm with a bullet sinker and dragging it on the bottom and carolina rigging it with about a 2 foot leader and dragging it on the bottom? the reason i am asking is because i dont have a different pole for every possible presentation. if there isnt much of a difference, its easier for me if i fishing a t-rig worm around a piece of cover like a dock, then just turn around and throw the same rig along a creek channel or something similar and fish it just like a c-rig.
  2. when fishing a plastic worm, do you find it more effective to hop the worm with short jerks of the rod tip, or to slowly drag it across the bottom with occasional pauses?
  3. how do you fish creek channels using c-rigs and crankbaits? do you position yourself in the deeper water and throw towards the shore, bringing the bait over the lip and down the ledge? similar question for points. do you position yourself in the deeper water and throw parallel to the point?
  4. i cant imagine too many places where the average would be over 4 lbs. the pond bill dance fishes on maybe.
  5. great message, i can honestly say that i have more respect for veterans and future veterans than just about anybody.
  6. the senko is one of my favorite baits and i often succumb to overusing it, but i actively try to use different lures, jigs, cranks, spinnerbaits, c-rig. it just seems like i always have trouble catching fish using the other ways, and as soon as i switch back to the senko, i get several bites. maybe this is just a confidence issue, but i try hard to use the other baits.
  7. anybody else read roland martin's book, something about 101 fishing tips? the reviews on amazon are pretty good and i was considering getting it.
  8. being a nonboater, i am almost always fishing from shore, whether it be ponds or the local lake. i am always beating the bank, and have limited success, and never catching bigger fish. what should i do to fish deeper without using electronics to find underwater structure and channels/dropoffs? i was also curious as how to fish deeper in ponds, which may not have creek channels or significant drop offs.
  9. i just have a few general questions about the split shot rig. is it kinda like a downsized carolina rig? how far away from the bait do the put the weight? and lastly how do you fish it? drag it, hop it, shake it then let it sit, or what?
  10. try the bullshot weight by water gremlin. shaped like a bullet weight, but you can put it on or take it off like a split shot and it stays in place.
  11. what kind of bait and what colors do you like to use for split shotting?
  12. i agree, but i dont think this was a result of bonking the bass on the head becuase the when the bass it the bait the first time, i missed him, so i threw the senko out again and repeated the process the the fish hit it in the exact same spot right by the shore.
  13. i was fishing in a small pond in a local golf course here in n.c., using mostly senkos. i caught 7 fish in the 2 hours i had been there. on the last one, i was reeling my senko in for the next cast, and a fish ate it while right at the surface near the shore as i was about to bring it out of the water. seeing this, i decided to try a weightless t-rigged zoom lizard. i cast it out and reeled it back in on the surface like a topwater right along the shore countless times without success. i should also mention it was at dusk, supposedly a good time for topwater. i cannot figure out why the bass would not eat the topwater lizard after one ate a senko as i was pulling it in on the surface.
