Fished Tuesday and Wednesday with good results. Tuesday stayed in San Miguel all day as the wind was terrible. Early morning found shad spawing on the point of a small pocket. Seemed a little early but hey take what your given. (Surprised). Shad flickering by the millions. Fish blowing up in the bushes and caught 8 -10 before the wind picked up action stopped. Frogs and chatterbaits were the ticket. Moved on to points of spawning pockets that had wind hitting them hard. Caught some pretty good fish on chatterbaits and swim jigs. Had a lull around 10 or so. Went to flipping bushes with a jaybug and started catching some better quality fish . Did try a deep spot late afternoon with fish holding on a hump the were staging and were full of eggs.
Wednesday fish San Patricio for a couple of hrs. Before the rain set in. Caught a couple of fish early on frogs. Water looked pretty good back towards the back . Not for long lol. Couldn’t get a flipping bite so started fishing cypress trees along the banks where all the camps are. Wacky senko was the ticket. Back to the drawing board now after all the rain !! Lol. All in all had a good couple of days. Couple of 5lbers and some good chunks. All released for someone else to catch .
Finally got to the bend Friday and Saturday!! Fished San Miguel and Lanan areas. Stayed shallow and caught fish flipping a black red flake jay bug. Also caught a few on senko a and wacky rigs. Fished the very backs of pockets and cypress trees. Caught very few out of the button willows. Far as I can tell the first small wake of fish have spawned and the next wave are staging. Next outing I will move out a little and try for the staging and post spawn fish. Sounds like I need to head to deep water after bassfanatics report!! Good to be back on the bend !!
Fished yesterday mid lake area and caught some on drop shot but most were small. Left and went looking in creeks for shad and found a creek with a bunch of shad a caught 20 or so with most of the fish coming on a series 5 shad crankbait. These fronts are starting to get the fish on the move and feeding. Only going to get better !! FOLLOW THE SHAD !!
Fished Thursday evening and Friday. Best bite for me was definitely in the afternoon. Found a school of fish and caught about 25 with 12 being keepers. Big fish was around 4lbs. 8-10 fow seemed to be best. All caught on a 3xd in a shad pattern. Friday morning was pretty slow with a couple of frog fish and a few more cranking. Found another school later in the day but most were small. Ready for some fall fishing !!
Headed that way tomorrow afternoon. What's the water color ? Gonna be in San Miguel and around 1215. Plan on covering a lot of water . Looks like I need to stay shallow ..
Yes I got it installed and used this week on the bend. That is the best add on I have ever put on a boat. Worth every penny. Nothing like driving over a school of fish dropping trolling motor and fishing off the back deck !! Lol
Yes those have some fish on them also. Every hump or point had a sweet spot where the wanted to be . Very easy to miss if ya didn't find the sweet spot.
Finally had a good day out deep !! Caught around 50 with 3.5
being the biggest. Most fish were caught in 15 to 20 feet of water on shakey heads and spoons.
i fished the San Miguel area. Points and humps.
Ronnie, how do ya like your ultrex ? Mine is suppose to show up from fed-ex today. Can't wait to get it on and head to the lake. This should be very beneficial on the bend !!
Finally headed to the bend for the weekend. Haven't been to the camp in over a month. I'm having withdrawls. Not sure how much serious fishing I will get done because of the much needed getaway with the family. I'm gonna try and sneak away for a little while .
Man all these reports have got me itching to get back on the bend. Haven't been able to get down there the last couple of weeks . Plan on making a trip down to the camp to mow and spend a couple of days chasing some of the deeper fish !!
The Toledo bend lunker bass program and the sharelunker program are totally separate programs !! Strike king, in an earlier post you started by referencing the sharelunker program and giving the Toledo bend lunker program numbers. I believe this is what the argument is about ..
Hit the bend Monday and Tuesday after the front. Ended up catching 12 on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. Monday was slow up shallow. Moved deep and did a little better . Started deep Tuesday morning and started catching fish pretty good . Caught a couple on a 6xd but most came on a Carolina trick worm . Most fish were small but did manage a couple of threes and one that went 9.12. A good way to break in a new boat !!
