  1. Trying to land my first small mouth and will be an hour away from Guntersville in a couple weeks. Limited time but I am going to wet a line. Unfortunately need a public spot and would love to land my first smallie. Any suggestions?
  2. I have an old artificial tree and thought about some quickcrete and plant buckets to make some reefs. Anyone know if it will hurt the lake?
  3. Man she looks like a football with fins lol! Great catch!
  4. Dillard/Helen area in 2 weeks. Got some fly fishing trips planned but would love a smallie. Any advice where to find one up there? Thanks in advance.
  5. All of them but the first that comes to mind is a 7-8 lber in a bed. Saw her and decided to throw a jig at her. Surprised she actually took it I set the hook into what felt like a log. The fight of u can call it that lasted only seconds. One shake of the head and out the jig comes flying at me. Until just a few days ago she haunted me and guess still does a little.
  6. Many thanks everyone. We have a family home on a private lake close to Mobile Alabama. I had never landed anything bigger than 5 lbs. Heard rumor of a 12 lber caught a few years back but doubted it. I don’t anymore needless to say!
  7. Not much of a story. Just felt like taking the kayak out. Missed a couple smaller ones. Wasn’t really having much luck. But decided it was to nice a day so I stayed out and I’m glad I did.
  8. Today I broke the 10lb mark. Beautiful 10.7 lber. Gonna try to post it but either way it’s a special day for me and I wanted to share.
  9. Has anybody ever used one. My son and I fish from a small Jon boat and I came across one on sale at Academy today. Decided to pick it up. You tube videos look interesting anyways but if anyone has used one please let me know what you think. Thanks and tight lines
  10. If I was u I would start with purple or blue fleck plastics Texas rigged.
  11. Pretty sure it is year round. Just contact Texas wildlife services and ask them to be on safe side.
  12. Fly fishing for bass is great. Not as difficult as trout in my opinion. I spent 5 days fishing streams in north Georgia earlier this year. Threw thousands of casts to catch 5 rainbows and would do it again in a heartbeat. Give it a shot brother. Very satifying to catch a fish on the fly.

  14. Really appreciate it. I am hoping to go looking around next week. Weather this week is awful!
  15. duckett ghost is a nice rod for the price IMO.
  16. bassmaster and basstimes
  17. George Bush park ponds seem ok. Is shore/kayak fishing allowed here? Tried to look it up and it looks like shore fishing is ok so I guess it's the kayak thing I'm wondering about.
  18. I will be living around Hobby but I can drive anywhere within an hour drive or so. Like I said for the first month or so it will be strickly bank fishing until I can get my kayak there. Thanks.
  19. I will be relocating to Houston Tx. For the next couple of months I will only be able to shore fish until I can get my kayak there with me. Sure would appreciate it if anyone knew of any spots to fish from shore and launch a kayak as well. Thanks for everything!
  20. 4 foot alligator on a live shrimp while seeking redfish.
  21. I noticed the mustang is about $150 more than a similar bps product. What I don't want to do is pay for a name. Gonna look at the bps auto inflate and go from there I guess.
  22. Got mine at westmarine for $450. It was on sale, not sure if it still is. Cayman 11.5
  23. I fish a small lake with no gas powered motors. My westmarine cayman was $550 (I got it on sale $100 off) so $450. It is perfect for what I fish. I love the high/ low seating. I would recommend it. It is also called a perception striker. Check it out on YouTube.
  24. Just got one and I got to say that I'm hooked. I fish a fairly small private lake we live on and it is perfect. I knew I wanted to try kayak fishing but didn't know how quickly I would fall for it. It's a very sturdy ride and would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a great starter kayak. I got mine for $469 as it was 100 bucks off.
