  1. I'm in Kissimmee through this week and have no clue where to fish. My time fishing will be limited as I'm on a family vacation but being from Ohio I had to bring poles with me. Any guidance for bank fishing quality bass would be awesome.
  2. the rod was less than a month old and this was a jig rod.... The first rod was broke on my second trip using it. If a 3lb bass is going to weaken the rod in no way do i want to own it.
  3. i do swing the fish into the boat a lot. Where i'm at in ohio the bass do not get that big but if it is of a decent size i will use a net or from the banks pull it out by hand. the largest i've caught this year was probably 3.5 lbs. the rod snapped yes pulling fish out of the water, but both fish were small probably 1.5 lbs. crap my son uses a berkley lightning rod 6'6" and i know he doesnt treat it right. he pulled a 5lber up out of the water with this junk rod and it took it like a champ. These rods should not have snapped. i like my st croix rods but was looking for something more sensative which the *** Black was.
  4. So I've broke 2 *** *** black rods... before they broke I loved it. BUT I've not brought in a fish over 4lbs and 2 rod snaps 2" down from the tip is crap. What I want is a decent rod 7' or 7'3" m or mh with a fast tip. Thinking about ducket ghost, carrot sticks will wild green or st Croix premier. Thought pls.
  5. Still beats work... Crap days do suck tho
  6. I bought one and wasn't impressed with the action on the legs. Took on avg amount of water. I wont buy another
  7. The type of braid will make a big difference. What are you using? I use spiderwire stealth braid and love it. 20# for jigs n t-rigs and 30# for frogs or heavy cover.
  8. I just got my replacement black *** today and it is just fine. Hope this one doesn't break.
  9. my lexa 100 has suffered from a sticky random clutch since it was brand new. i have not had this happen to my T3. i started off with a probly 10-15 year old daiwa baitcaster and while it would backlash like it was designed to do it i never once had the clutch act up.
  10. I agree with most... There are more expensive rods BUT even on a $40 rod that is brand new that thing better have the guides straight.... That's about the most basic part of it...
  11. Those look really good!
  12. What kind of air brush do you use? Is it special to be able to blow the powder? I would imagin that this is also easier to clean than one when using paint.
  13. I would say it depends where you are gonna fish... Here in Ohio a 30# line is more than sufficient for throwing a frog and most of the time i use only a 20#. For my jig and Texas rigs a use a 20#. Always spiderwire stealth braid. Never used power pro but lots like it.
  14. Yea im def in agreeance that the powder is easier. Heat, dip, bake and done. The brown as it was shown on bass pros website was much lighter. The green flakes are always there which is nice but i am having trouble getting consistancy. I think the shallow bowl over using the container is a good idea. In trying to think of a way to mist it with the powder. The blue is very easy and bright every time. The whole processes of molding and painting with powder is very easy, my 10 yr old has made a few for our trip tomorrow.
  15. That is actually correct st Croix is still made here... Coulda sworn a month ago i saw on their site it said made and designed in mexico. I would def get the 7' not the 6'6"
  16. I have a st Croix premier and do like it a lot but i just got a *** *** black and it casts further is def more sensitive and looks better too for the same price. I will buy *** before more st Croix's... Both are made out of the country...
  17. I would check tackle warehouse. They have good deals and even if u find a reel at a better price that they have they will match the price. With the service they have given to me with a broken rod i just bought i will only buy from somewhere else if they don't have what i want
  18. I have both sizes but have only thrown the larger black n blue Texas rigged and pulled in many fish with it. It seems to last a while for me. On their website they show putting alkaseltzer chunks in the claws to make them bubble a little and bounce more. Have not tried this except in a fish tank but it looks sweet in there
  19. I just started to make jigs and weights. only have a football jig mold and bullet weight for now. The biggest 2 questions i have are: 1- with the brown powder i bought its really hard to get consistent coloring and most of the times its really dark. i am just heating the jig and dipping it then knocking it off. what better ways are there to this? and second what really is the best paint for jigs: powder or actual paint? i went with powder for simplicity.
  20. what molds are you using? i just started pouring for the fist time ever and made several football jigs with and without weedguards in them and didn't have one that lead ran out of mold where it shouldn't have. i would have to think that your mold doens't close well. also just lay the mold flat and lay your hooks in it. if you have the right hooks they will stay put when you close the mold..... if they dont then you have either the wrong size or wrong hook altogether and you can either modify the mold to for your style hook or buy diff hooks. But the lead will come out of the eye way easier than finished paint... poke it with another hook or there is a tool you can use designed for clearing the finished product.
  21. Whats the best place to buy reel parts? Really just want spare spools for 2 reels... Lexa 100 and t3
  22. I have used spiderwire for years and tried fireline and had lots and lots of line breaks so i went back to spiderwire. I use the stealth braid and have to ask about the invisibraid... Is it really see through in the water? From looking at it its just white??
  23. I really like my *** black rod. Great sensitivity over the st Croix premiers i have. Will be getting more. And i like daiwa so i have to agree with the tatula reel or the lexa 100 is nice too but does not have the t-wing which is very nice on my t3.
