  1. Most often the Zoom Z-craw. or a ribbon tail worm.
  2. I am not much for dropshot myself but I always keep a pack of dropshot tubes in my bag just in case. I will also push a slider head in them to drag the bottom.
  3. that rod is fine. I have mine on a 7'3 ML custom point blank rod for small texas rigs and topwater but honestly i will put it on any but my cranking stick or my heavy rods.
  4. Point blank 73 mh rod blank size 6 guides and a daiwa tatula sv.
  5. I bought a few last year that I am still working on building. They are nice blanks but so far for me personally for the price I will buy a point blank rod. I seem to like their action a little more.
  6. the Immortal is a great blank now that they lowered the price. Probably the best blank I have found in that price range. I think they have more competition in the Revelation price point. I have not looked at the new eternity blanks But I have a hard time selecting anything but a point blank rod blank at the higher range.
  7. Only issue I have is with leader lines. they catch going out of the T. Other than that I love them.
  8. Regular fishing SUP yes. I think they may end up being perfect for rivers and places that are tougher to get to. Large lakes I cant see it being an option for me.
  9. Depending on pricing I would say that a Hobie PA14 would be one of the most roomy kayaks available that also include horizontal rod storage. The old town Predator series also allow horizontal rod storage and their new PDL model giving you pedal power. For a less expensive paddle powered kayak I would look at the Nucanoe pursuit or the Jackson Bigrig or Cuda HD.
  10. I am hoping to make it up there this year. I am just not sure if work is going to get in the way yet.
  11. when i fished a quantum smoke I would fish it in free mode once in awhile if i was fishing somewhere and just needed a little more distance. The problem is if you are not carefull you will overrun it soo bad that you have to cut the line out.
  12. I just built a rod on the MB874 blank but i have not had a chance to fish it yet. It is a stiffer blank then I was expecting, similar to a similar heavy rod in the st croix series sc3 or maybe SC4 or so. I actually built it for a frog and 1/2 oz jig rod and I think it will work out fine for that. From what I have seen the Mudhole blank is a nice budget blank but it is not going to compare to a Northfork IM, St croix SC5 or a Point Blank rod blank. It reminds me of a couple of the heavier rainshadow revolution or immortal blanks that i have handled
  13. I have a hell of a time with leader knots using the t-wing reels. They catch while going out of the reel quite a bit with the double uni I use. I normally just shorten up the leader length on my rods that use those reels.
  14. Some rods will float with a reel attached. Tt really depends on how much air is in the blank as well as the weight of the reel. I do not know of any rod company any more that actually builds rods to float, It is more of a side benefit. I would look at more mag taper blanks if you are looking for ones that may end up floating.
  15. I have picked up a few reels from ebay and have never had any issues. American Fishing Legacy so far has been good to me.
  16. I had their 1000 size and it was a great reel for a shimano, I ended it up replacing it with a diawia 105 myself.
  17. Whatever works best for you, One of the guys I fish with only uses spinning and I do not see any disadvantages with what he is doing. He uses a 3000 size reel for frogs and punching with out issues. Lots of groups fish for a lot larger fish than bass with spinning tackle and are not limited to light lines and light lures.
  18. For light texas rigged plastics I use a m/f or a ml/f rod, I want enough bend to be able to cast worms the distance. I am using lightwire hooks so they penetrate a little better than the heavy hooks, But I do bend them out if I get snagged or set the hook on a branch. If I go up in weight or I switch to a flipping hook I will move to a MH or a Heavy rod. My ML/F rod casts nedrigs, open jig heads, texas rigged trick, worms slider heads, as well as shakey heads without issues.
  19. For cheap baitcasters I can only recommend the H2o Mettle, the Okuma Calera, or the Bass pro shops Pro Qualifier. Those are the only under $100 baitcasters I would waste my money on. If you look just above the $100 mark I would recommend the Diawia Tatula models.
  20. for 50s Normally if i am out by myself I am using a wetsuit and raingear to cut to the wind. Being a bigger guy I am not able to get into a dry suit without it being custom. when fishing with others I normally stick with a set of waders with warm stuff underneath. once it gets into the 40s I call it a year and stay home but that is me.
  21. Cant speak for Denali But i am not a fan of the guides on my duckett ghost
  22. I bought a few things from them. I did not really see any the quality was really any better or worse then the items I picked up from mudhole or getbit. some of the things they sell seem like a bargain some of it is not any cheaper.
  23. I am really impressed with the CT. I own a tatula as well as some zillion and these are as good as either of them to me
  24. Guess I should have checked my typing. It is actually a pb73mlf. Thinking smaller plastics and 1/4 oz grips and such. They do seem to have more of a parabolic Bend then something like a st. Croix or even rain shadow type blank
  25. On impulse I picked up a PB731MXF to build for a new bass rod but I am not really sure what this rod would be best for. I am planning on it as a casting rod But I am wondering what techniques you would recommend for it. WHat do you guys think?
