  1. Rock on! When I get there I might still buy them (probably not..lol) just because it's such a ridiculously good value for the benefits we receive for that 12 bucks
  2. It seems you can buy NEW Rabble Rousers. Rabble Rouser NEW!!! (80 Colors to Choose From) – My Bait Shop, LLC
  3. Yes....Cutting the legs off a Pad Crasher Jr. creates this spastic little nugget that, to me, acts like a Big June Bug or Cicada. It's another tool in the topwater bag that works well
  4. Yeah...don't. All it will do is make them more prone to picking up weeds and gunk. I've never seen it make a difference in hook-up ratio.
  5. My OG Pro Qualifier. I think I've had it for about 15 years at this point and it has just gotten better over the years. It's a tough SOB and is now butter smooth.
  6. I got that way with the Old Netbait BK Tube in the "Lou's Special" color when they discontinued them. Became obsessed and was trying to "corner the market" on them. Gave up after awhile but I would still buy everyone I could find if I could find them
  7. The Mo DNR is excellent. We have tons of Conservation areas that are well managed, they have many educational programs for kids and adults. Heck, even the monthly magazine is outstanding. I would find it hard to believe there is a better one in the country.
  8. I have never taken a picture of a fish. I don't carry my phone in my boat
  9. This thread makes me glad I live in NOWEMO. Cheapest cost of living in the whole US. Resident fishing license for year? 12 bucks. Conservation areas everywhere. 12 miles to my favorite lake. usually only one there. No pleasure boaters. Perfect size for Bass Raider. No, there ain't any 20lbers but there are plenty of 3-9 lbers and that's ok with me.
  10. Probably not exactly what you're talking about but if I have an area with a lot of pads or vegetation with open water pockets where I might normally throw a frog I sometimes rig a toad on a VMC Drop Dead Hook. For the most part it's a topwater presentation but the weighted hook will allow those toads to sink in those open water pockets. Caught many bass that way.
  11. You're welcome. I'm an avid frogger and I love talking about it. I should say that my style of frogging is pretty specific. I do not do a lot of what I refer to as "Finesse Frogging." Areas with lots of open water. Open lily pad fields, that sort of thing. The Trophy series is NOT your best option in those areas, imho. They don't walk that well, and that *plop* they make becomes counter-productive. To me, that's where something like a Pad Crasher jr. or a smaller Spro Bronzeye shines. When faced with a BIG muck field, I will tie on a Spro Bronzeye King Daddy. It's a BIG frog that I can throw a mile.
  12. I throw frogs in HEAVY slop. Most of that slop is located in stump fields. There isn't a lot of "walking the dog" or finesse stuff going on. I do a high arc cast (when I can) on the Trophy series and they land with a very distinct *plop*. You want that simply to let the fish know something is around as they sure as heck can't see it. The Trophy series will take an absolute beating doing this. You'll lose the glued-on eyes pretty quickly but they don't matter at all. This is strictly reaction-strike fishing. I don't modify them at all. I don't trim the skirt, bend out the hooks, or add color. I've had them last 2 seasons and one year I burned through about 10 of them by getting them hopelessly hung up on stumps and debris. A well made, inexpensive lure for a technique that does NOT require custom, realistic paint or life-like "kicking legs". Pad Crasher is also a solid, well-priced option. I have and throw them, too. I have a couple of Pad Crasher Jr.'s that I cut the legs OFF. It's like a spastic little June bug in areas with some open water
  13. Scum Frog Trophy Series Natural Green and Black. The only frog you need. I have others. I throw others occasionally. I throw this one 98% of the time. Also happens to be one of the cheaper ones. Learn it, know it, live it. BTW...get the 5/8 size
  14. I'm gonna throw in a 3rd vote for the Trashmaster
  15. and I use 2 beads. Usually a glass one by the hook and a plastic gold or chrome one next the weight. Does it work? I don't know...lol. I saw a friend doing this years ago and liked it so I started doing it. I've caught my fair share on that set up. *shrugs*
  16. You realize you are under no obligation to buy them all, right? Right?
  17. Scum Frog. Either the Trophy Series or the Launch. 5/8
  18. This. I like the deep dives into technique. ESPECIALLY those techniques I am weak at.
  19. Good Lord....this might be the best, most concise answer I've ever seen on BR. I went from also being curious about a Scrounger head to ordering some and having a good starting knowledge about how to use them in about 5 minutes. Unbelievable...lol. Thanks Tom!
  20. I should say that I am not talking about all fishing videos. I've watched a ton of videos that were informative. Glenn's videos are always good. I've watched Flukemaster, and a few others that have taught me a lot. I'm not anti-cell phone, I just see people watching life through a lens rather than actually living life in the moment. I think it's just a another aspect of growing older. Wanting to live life in the here and now.
  21. I have no need to watch a video of the average joe fishing. I will never understand the incessant need to have cell phone on you at all time. 99% of the time mine stays in the truck. Also...music on the water sucks. I don't wanna hear your crappy "bro-country" or whatever passes for music these days. I wanna hear nature.
  22. I like a lot of the BPS soft plastics. Stik-O's are the bomb! I also like their square bills.
  23. Mine is a "Well, Duh, Dummy" answer but I was pleasantly surprised by Green Pumpkin Senkos. For YEARS I thought they wouldn't work because they were the "same color as the water" I fished. Yeah...not so much...lol
  24. Yep. I don't backlash very often anymore but occasionally I'll throw a frog straight into a close tree trunk. HELLUVA mess. This fixes it every time.
