  1. Finally got new brake pads for my trailer after searching for them for 4 days. The brake pads came out to be from a 1991 Dodge Daytona and I had to grind the pads so they fit. Got the right side pads and everything put back together so onto the left side, changing them out I tried to take channel locks to push the piston on the caliper in and wouldn't budge. Took it off and it's seized so I have to replace it. Can't find the caliper to save my life. It says AJ 6 and on the back it says UFP which is a marine master website and I can't find it. Any suggestions??? It's a 2003 triton bass boat trailer. I thought about just leaving it the way it was and not worrying about it but I know deep down I should fix it. Any help would be very helpful
  2. So I've been using crankbaits ever since I've been fishing but it seems to me that I only catch bass on cranks in farm ponds. I have yet to land a bass on any lake with a crank. Maybe it the color or the dive or something but I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. I resort to a spinnerbait which seems to me yields more bass than crankbaits. Am I doing something wrong? Am I using cranks in the wrong situation at the wrong place and time? What do you guys think?
  3. When in doubt, jig your way out
  4. Well I guess in ohio every fish I catch is considered a "dink" to you boys in the southern states pulling 4#s on a regular. A 4 pounder in ohio is the fish of the month lol I'd say anything a pound or less is a dink in ohio.
  5. I'd like to dedicate this topic to every fisherman that hits the water with their old lady. Every so often on the lake if see a couple going around flippin pads having a great old time. I decided to teach my girl how to flip for bass and she's a quick learner, considering I took me the whole summer to TRY to teach my friend and he still can't get it. In a tourney I'd deffinently choose her over him lol she caught more fish in 2 trips than my buddy has ever caught the whole summer Hahahaha and I mean it a win win you get to fish and have your girl right by your side
  6. Nothing too unusual for ohio but scared the crap out of a blue Huron and he freaked out and clothes lined himself on branch Hahahaha probably the funniest thing I've ever seen
  7. Anybody know anything about Rushcreek's 10H.P limit? Rushcreek is about 10 miles east of Somerset in Perry County. Got a 150 Mercury on the back of my boat and I have no clue if I can drop my engine and just idle instead of killing my battery trolling to get half way across the lake
  8. Thanks for the help I can't wait for the ice to thaw and hit the water
  9. Tatertester, when I started flipping I would stand on my truck bed and have 3 paint trays with water in them place 5, 10 and 15 feet away from me. Keep practicing and you'll get it. Do that everyday until you can hit the mark every cast
  10. Don't get on the Tackle Warehouse .com hahaha that's where I get most of my stuff and they have awesome deals...just saying lol
  11. If you're looking for a reel to flip or throw jigs I would go with the Quantum Accurist with the higher 7.0:1 ratio. It's $99 where I'm at but it's worth the money. And line wise if you're willing to spend the money go for 17lb Seaguar Tatsu IMO it is the best flouro I have thrown to date. Throw flouro on every type of cover except for vegetation. Seaguar makes a tournament grade braid that cuts right through grass and pads
  12. Hey guys thanks for comments I think I'm going to take it to a marina to get it looked at. It's not like it happens everytime but when it does you least expect and have to shut the engine off and play around with the throttle. This happened to me in my very first tourney last year right out of the holeshot
  13. Go for a bow tipped with a Muzzy MX3 broadhead. As the shotgun goes I would NOT use buckshot. I personally have never ever ever heard of anyone hunting deer with buckshot. Go for slugs forrrr sure! Put it in the right spot and you'll only have to track for 50 yards tops if you put a nice shot on it
  14. I wouldn't set them this early just because they are going to be out in the elements longer. I would set them maybe early August when the deer are bedded up. And strap wise go for the ratchet style straps. I personally DO not like the ones where you pull the strap through and it just stays in place. A lot of times it will slip a little
  15. I got a 2003 Triton 186 (18ft6") with a 150 2 stroke mercury on the back. Bought the boat last early summer. First time I took it out I was so excited. Took off fine, planned out fine and everything. When I got to the spot I was planning on fishing I began to throttle down BUT the throttle was stuck on full speed. I had no clue what to do for this was my first bass boat so as I was getting close to some pads I shut the engine off. On the takeoff it seems to start out fine until you go full throttle then it slips and goes completely limp in the full position. After calling around to local marine shops they said it was a throttle cable linkage problem? Any suggestions? It doesn't happen every single time but when it does it's scary. Comments please!!!
  16. On my home lake there is a gas station with a dock down in the canal. Just think of the possibilities. Redbull and some butterfingers maybe a sandwhich or two
  17. Crying, going through my tackle tweaking every minute tiny little thing, crying, pacing back and fourth hoping the ice will thaw, crying, flipping into a water bucket in my basement and did I mention crying?
  18. See the thing is the water is so murky I'm talking 1-2ft clarity if that and it's really hard to see baitfish. I'm also running into another problem, since spring is coming up I've never fished this like during the spawn, I know bass spawn in like 1-3 feet of water but that's like the whole lake. And I seriously can't read my graph to see the bottom comp to save my life lol
  19. What is your absolute "go to" flipping lure???
  20. I'm always curios to fish bassy looking spots like lilies because I'm always thinking about the next cast what bass pig is going to grab ahold of that lure
  21. Mr. Tom Biffle!!! I admire his flipping and pitching techniques
  22. So to start off if anyone is familiar with Central Ohio you probably know or heard of Buckeye Lake that is east of Columbus, if you haven't fished it before you're one lucky dog, for me it is the closest lake within a hour and half from where I live. With the average depth of ONLY 4ft this is a very challenging lake to fish. The main cover for this lake is made up of lilly pads, boat docks and my favorite, rocky shores. I find myself constantly hitting the rocky shores with spinnerbaits and flipping creature baits or craws. Main forage is gizzard shad and crawfish. With such a low average depth it is very very hard to have a productive day esp when it is 85+. I've only been on the lake via boat for one summer and fall and I constantly question my fishing tactics. I have caught fish in the pads but there is so many it's hard to find a productive spot without wasting the whole day on a section of the lake. I need someone else's input and various opinions on what you would do when, where and how. Thanks
