  1. I went to Pattagansett on Saturday from about 8-11. I had my kayak in, the skies were grey, water was pretty calm. I couldn't get a bite for the life of me. I threw everything from Senkos to the Whopper Plopper. The only hit I had was a pickerel on a Husky Jerk Bait. My buddy and I are supposed to go out today--we were thinking somewhere like Billings, or should we stick with a small pond where the water might be warmer?
  2. I haven't been out yet in CT in a while, but hoping maybe to hit up Eastern Connecticut tonight/tomorrow weather permitting. I can't wait to get my kayak into Pattagansett.
  3. There's nowhere to park right near the causeway though, correct? I'd literally have to walk the trail to it with my gear?
  4. Can you fish Heyward without like a lake permit?
  5. Hey all! My friends and I are going to Vermont this weekend (Burlington). They slated out some time for me to fish in the early morning both days. We are five minutes from Shelburne Bay. I won't have a boat or yak for this trip, but what's the shore fishing like there? Is there a hot spot I should look for? Is it busy at like 7:00am? Any help is appreciated because I've never been. I also never caught a pike either so I'm hoping for that. Also, is there a bait shop nearby? Thank you so much for the help! ~Ed
  6. So as we wind the summer down, I was wondering when Pike fishing will start back up in Connecticut. I heard they were in Wethersfield Cove (you can see it from I-91). Any help or tips? I've actually never caught a Northern Pike.
  7. Can you elaborate more on the water in western in CT bigbill?
  8. So, I'll take the bait and try this pitiful looking setup. Does anyone have any tips as to how to fish it properly? I'll be honest, I've read a lot about it, but am a little skeptical. My friend and I are fishing a lake in CT that can be tough this time of year. We were wondering what you all thought about it to entice some slow biting fish. Thanks! ~Eddie
  9. My buddy and I were fishing Twin Lakes in Connecticut last fall. After catching a Copie, I landed this one. I thought it was a baby, which hasn't changed colors yet. Then, later on, looking at the picture of the Angler's Guide looked like an Atlantic Salmon. (I placed it back safely, no worries!) Then, I thought it could be a trout, but was missing some of the color patterns. What do you experts think--we're still debating months later! Thanks! ~Eddie
  10. I haven't seen many beds either this year.... I haven't been out too much, but has there been any decent action around that people are willing to share? I'm trying to hit up Babcock Pond in Colchester Saturday, so I'll post a report on it.
  11. Hey: I'm from New Haven area and I was just wondering if anyone up the north western part of the state could tell me if Twin Lakes is ready to roll for the season. I've heard some rumors that some of the northern lakes still had ice on them....
  12. I haven't posted in a while and it's only fair to post what's going on to help others... Last Monday, Brian and I hit Twin Lakes in Salisbury, CT at about 9:30. We were stocked with meal worms, medium sized shiners and enough gear for four men. We were told by a local that the Salmon were biting and jumping. We were also told the Browns were jumping literally out of the water. We didn't have to go far. Just beyond O'Hara's landing, salmon were flying out of the water. We rigged up meal worms with a long liter and let them sit. On other poles, Brian was running a spoon, and I ran a yellow inline spinner with a flashy red hook. I caught my first Copehagan (sic) ever. I wished I weighed it, because the record is only like 2.4 lbs in CT. Shortly after, I caught another salmon that oozed eggs everywhere in the boat. I tried to get her back out quickly. Brian didn't hit the salmon, but found himself landing a massive pickerel that devoured his shiner. This was all before eleven. The weather sucked. It was cloudy, windy, and the water was choppy. We hit the other lake with no action in the shallows or in the fifteen foot range of water. The vegetation looked strangled in the shallows. Back on the main lake, Brian landed his first salmon of the day. They were still jumping around, even at 3 in the afternoon. All in all, a good day. Only so many more of these days left....
  13. So, my report... It was a gorgeous day on the lake. However, Brian and I didn't kill it like last time. We hit a few Red eyes, pickerel and perch. The only large mouth I caught was a decent size, but in about 15' deep of water. Those ledges are where the bass are hanging. As far as the lilly pad spot between the two lakes, we had one hit and lost frogs. A fish finder with structure locator would have done wonders. And it was an old school kind of day--my fish came on a Mepps rooster tail--including the bass.
  14. I know it's late...but I'm hitting twin lakes tomorrow with bmac and wondering if anyone has been up there lately and what's worked. We absolutely killed it last time with jerk baits and senkos...Wondering what's working now. I can't wait to enjoy my first day of summer vacation!!
  15. Glad you had luck at Saltonsall. I got shut out there a few weeks ago and haven't gone back. The other guys I was with didn't do so well either. We fished the whole shoreline down the lake on the boat. On the other hand, Twin Lakes have been popping!
