  1. Thanks for the reply. I bought a battery at Academy for $99 that is a true deep cycle battery. Trolling motor should be much better now. The Xpress boats are aluminum. I haven't had any problems with thrust. I'd love a 24v trolling motor though. I've got limited room in the hatch and three batteries won't fit. I'd have to have one or both under the seats. Gas tank is huge and takes up lots of space. Basically my main culprit was the seller sold me a boat with two marine starting batteries and no deep cycle. I should have lots more trolling time now.
  2. I bought my boat last year (17' Xpress) and bought a deep cycle battery for the 12v trolling motor due to very little trolling time since the battery would only last about 2 hrs fishing time. What I discovered is two marine starting batteries were used instead of a starting battery for the motor and a deep cycle for trolling. I had accessories and motor starter hooked to one and trolling motor on the other. Should I hook up accessories and trolling together or leave the trolling battery only on trolling motor? Thanks Billy
  3. The Wobble Head is the best. Just plain old black hardware with your choice of worm color.
  4. Welcome and GEAUX TIGERS!
  5. Smallmouth are feisty indeed! My favorite fishing trips were fishing smallmouth in Arkansas.
  6. That did the trick. I entered the gas nozzle upside down to follow the curve of the inlet. I took a while to out in 12 gallons in the 16 gallon tank but its in there.
  7. I also want to mention that this is a permanent tank, not one with a venting gas cap.
  8. I am pleased to be part of this great source of bass knowledge. I like to fish the river lakes off the Ouachita River. I know this is primarily for bass anglers but i split my time on the water 50 - 50 between large mouth and crappie. I just bought my first boat! She's an Xpress sv16 bass rig with a 50 hp Yamaha 2 stroke. I've fished since I was just a young boy riding my bike to the banks of the Ouachita River and throwing out whatever looked cool off the shelves at Kmart or Walmart. Been married for almost 15 years and my father-in-law got me into the crappie or as we say in Louisiana Sac au lait. I like going to Northern Arkansas to fish the Buffalo National River for small mouth. I'm actually a much better small mouth angler even though I only fish them once a year.
  9. I bought my first boat several weeks ago. It's an Xpress SV16 with a Yamaha 50 hp 2 stroke. The generous former owner left me with about 6 gallons in the 18 gallon tank. so this morning I went to "feed the baby" some non ethenol goodness but as soon as I pulled the lever on the gas pump, it spewed back out at me. Now knowing a little bit about basic physics tells me that the air has to escape to allow gas in the tank. The motor is a 2 stroke 50hp Yamaha so there are several hoses going into the tank. There is a big hose about the diameter of a golf ball from the filler hole, a smaller hose attached to what looks like an oil filter which then goes to a primer bulb, and another smaller hose that runs towards the filler cap as well. Not sure which one is the vent. Has anyone else had this problem? Maybe a picture would be better.
  10. Congrats! I just bought my first boat too. I took it out today for the second time and forgot to put the drain plug in. Bilge pump drain hole also had a dirt dauber's former home in it so it took a few minutes for the water to begin to pump out. LESSON LEARNED. As for backing in the ramp: A veteran angler said to lower the tail gate on your truck bed to better see the boat. That helps for sure.
