  1. 6.2 lb bass on a Pearl White 3/8oz Project Z Chatterbait.
  2. I don't get to drag a football jig around much since 95% of the lakes around here have a muck bottom. I have some G2 Football Dredge jigs but I haven't used them much, if at all. I haven't played around with the brush jigs at all. I'll have to pick up a few and give them a shot this spring.
  3. I turkey hunt as well. We have both fall and spring seasons but I only hunt the spring. I never got used to a mouth call but I recently started trying again and am getting better so I'm hoping to get good enough to give it a try this upcoming spring. I primarily use a box call and am pretty fluent in turkey language with it. I'm actually looking to upgrade my shotgun after this upcoming season. I have a Mossberg 590 but I'd like to move to a Benelli M2.
  4. I absolutely fell in love with the Sniper jig this past season. Every time I go out, I have a Dredge Dock Rocker tied on and if I need to downsize, my go to is definitely a 5/16 Sniper jig. I usually have a Baby Craw trailer on it as well.
  5. I lost a few spinnerbaits and some jigs (both finesse and 3/8oz arky head jigs) due to pike. Those toothy scoundrels got on my nerves when it came to getting bitten off this past year!!
  6. I'm actually considering using the trip to plan a spring walleye trip. A buddy of mine has a cabin up that way that we go to every January. Maybe I'll add the St. Croix factory store to the itinerary of that trip. I want to pick up a Mojo Musky rod anyway so I might as well take care of that at the same time.
  7. Hmmmm.......you may be onto something!!! This is not a bad idea at all!! It's a 4.5 hour drive but it may be worth it!
  8. I'll give this a shot. Could be just the fix I'm looking for. Thanks!!
  9. I'd say try as many as you can and see what works best for you. The best setup is the one you have the most confidence in. For me, I love using braid to flouro leader for everything except my cranking setups.
  10. Yeah, I'll have to figure out a way to adjust how I'm palming the reel. I must've tweaked how I was holding it in order for this issue to surface so I'll have to find something that's comfortable. I REALLY don't wanna dump them since other than this issue, I love them!! I do have a 13 Fishing Inception that I got as a gift and I will say that it palms really well for me so I don't mind that reel either.
  11. Yeah, there's definitely a cult following here for Kistler too. I dunno if the G Loomis following is "cult" since that following is pretty much everywhere.
  12. I typically start out the day with 2 or 3 baits tied on to figure out if they're in the mood to chase or not. Once I figure that out, I'll tie on 5 or so baits that are different presentations but still matching their mood. If I have to choose one, I can fish a jig all day long and be happy!
  13. Here's my baby. 2014 Crestliner Raptor 1750
  14. What was happening in your case? I'm wondering if I'm gripping the reel too tight or something? Have you figured out a way to no longer inadvertently turn the dial?
  15. This year, I lost 4 rods due to various reason. They all got broken doing different things. One was stepped on, another was broken by something falling on the tip, another was broken from a hookset and the last was just broken during an encounter with a large northern pike. One of the rods was a Duckett Micro Magic, and the other 3 were 13 Fishing Omens. I'm looking to go with a different brand now and am very interested in the Powell Endurance rods. It seems like Powell has somewhat of a cult following here and I'm wondering what makes people fall in love with them the way they do.
