  1. I am looking at the IMX Pro MBR 6'6 Medium and IMX Pro 6'8 Medium Topwater for throwing small poppers like the Megabass Pop-x and Rio Rico. Line will be 30lb braid. Does anyone have experience with these rods? What would you recommend? Also open to other rod suggestions
  2. Check out the Kistler Crank rip twitch rods. I have the 6'9 MH that is extremely versatile. I throw jerkbaits, cranks, spinnerbaits, swim jigs, chatterbaits, poppers, spooks, and whopper ploppers on mine. I throw 10-12lb mono or fluorocarbon for jerkbaits and cranks. 12-15lb mono for poppers. 18lb fluoro for spinnerbaits and chatterbaits. and 30lb braid for spooks and ploppers
  3. Stick with Gamakatsu
  4. Megabass 110 Megabass 110+1 Lucky Craft Pointer
  5. 6'6 Medium Kistler KLX Crank/Rip/Twitch. It is rated as a mod/fast but is actually fairly stiff with a good amount of tip to cast and work a jerkbait. This rod is also good for small crankbaits, poppers, and finesse plastics.
  6. I am in search of a 6ft 1 piece UL for crappie fishing. My budget is $150. I plan on using this rod for casting road runners and maribou jigs. Any recommendations?
  7. Zoom speed craws are a solid choice. I fish these mainly on smaller finesse jigs. Berkley Havoc pit boss RI sweet beaver
  8. Save yourself some money and stick with Red Label
  9. 10.5" zoom plum ol' monster or a drop shot
  10. In my experience, small poppers will get more bites and will catch the big ones as well. I like the 1/4oz yellow magics and pop x
  11. This bait gets a lot of strikes but i struggle with the hook up ratio. The tail seems to take up a lot of the gap on the hook resulting in missed fish. Not worth it IMO
  12. Winter: hair jigs or finesse jig with pork trailer, jerkbaits, flat sided balsa crank baits, drop shot. Spring: jerkbaits, jigs, spro little johns, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, poppers, drop shot, senko Summer: 10" Ol' Monster, drop shot, jig, frog, squarebill, chatterbait, spinnerbait, popper, spook Fall: spinnerbait, chatterbait, crankbait, underspin, jig, spook, popper, flukes
  13. ^^What he said Learn to tie leaders if you don't know how to already. I recommend the albright knot for its simplicity.
  14. Likely a spool bearing that is bad or in need of cleaning. To fix, try soaking the spool bearings in simple green or lighter fluid. Spin them dry and listen for a grinding noise. If you hear a grinding noise, try to soak the bearing again. If you can't get the bearing to run smooth I recommend looking into Boca Bearings for a replacement set.
