Dropped the foot pedal. Makes it so much more easy and comfortable to use.
  7. I completely agree with everything that flow Grown has said. I am always on the look out for good deals on rods and reels, and it doesn't have to be high priced ones either. I haven't spent more than $150 on any of my set ups, and I have won plenty of tournaments with them. As far as the kayak, I would see if you can try out a buddy's first or see about renting one, just to see if you like it. I personally dont like them, so I got a pelican bass raider instead. got it on craigslist for a good price and have since then put a lot into. so yes, my opinion would be to get a decent rod and reel and still have enough for some lures.
  8. Definitely prefer frogs. Although, I absolutely love me some double props.
  9. I just about have that exact set up. I bought the 7'.6" rod though instead. It's my only 2 piece casting rod, and it isn't bad. The only reason I purchased these items is because I was able to get a awesome deal on both of them. Otherwise I probably wouldn't have bothered getting them. I've used it mostly with braid as my jig rod in heavy vegetated areas. It hasn't let me down yet. One thing that sucks is that the line will get tangled at the tip sometimes, but that's no biggy. All in all it's a good purchase. If I may suggest though; if there is an Academy Sports near you, they carry the Diawa Laguna rods for $30 and the Diawa Exceller reels for $70 (originally $90).
  10. You tube "bassresource" and find their video on jigs. He has a few videos on jigs and all of them are very educational. I really enjoy jig fishing and I've used quite a few different kinds for the different scenarios. def agree to not give it up just yet.
  11. I for one am grateful as heck for this post! My wife just got me a vendetta for christmas and it is my favorite rod. she got that at full price too so if wally world has it for cheaper then I am heading that way first thing tomorrow. thanks for the heads up.
  12. Definitely agree with the cherry wood rods. I still have 2 myself (7' M). I had a few more before and when they broke (due to operator error) I went and got me a few more. another decent rod for the price is the Diawa Leguna. For $30 you really can't beat that and I have never had any issues with mine. good luck.
  13. Not too big myself on buying combos. I am always on the look out for rods and reels that are on sale. When a company is coming out with a new version of a particular rod or reel, they will drop the old versions price greatly. I also like to buy them separate because I can get the set up just the way I want. good luck on finding a decent combo though if that's what you wanna stick with. I'm sure there are some good deals out there.
  14. You'll definitely want to use a stronger rod with the super lock. being that it's a thicker hook, a "M" rod will have a harder time penetrating and getting a solid hook set as a medium heavy rod would.
  15. I purchased the exceler awhile back and have since then liked it and have not had any issues. If any of the local stores around me have any of that price ill probably get me another.
