  2. Here in Upstate NY the rivers are still frozen almost solid. We have a LONG way to go unfortunately. Temps dropping down to the low teens again tonight.
  3. Try black-bottomed topwaters. In the murky water, black is what contrasts the best. Try a black jointed jitterbug...it displaces a lot of water upon retrieve and they make them in all black.
  4. During the summer, on a calm morning I always start off with a Chugbug or Jitterbug.
  5. What you can do is get an anchor with a long rope, and make a line and number for every foot on the rope. Then just drop the anchor down and you know exactly how deep it is.
  6. Wow I hope this never happens to me.
  7. Square bill: Bomber square A Topwater: Storm Chugbug, Arbogast jointed jitterbug Jerkbait: Matzuo Phantom Minnow (this jerkbait has the BEST action you can have on a jerkbait. If you don't believe me try it out)
  8. Spinnerbaits and jigs. Gonna really work on them this year.
  9. They are pickerel magnets for sure.
  10. I got a Yamamoto popper over the winter. I'm curious about these hard baits as well. Anxious to get out and try them as soon as the ice melts.
  11. The only problem with using crankbaits from sure is it's tough to keep the bait in the strike zone long enough. You gotta cast really far to keep it down long enough. One advantage is as you reel it back towards shore, it will run into bottom and kick stuff up, which can trigger a strike.
  12. I think it from the elbows resting on the knees for too long lol. Cuts off the circulation.
  13. Yes very scary. They are saying he might have mild brain damage because of it. I guess the Red's are holding him out at least until after the All-Star break.
  14. Just picked up a Poppin' Pad Crasher today. At least a couple bucks cheaper than Spro or Livetarget, so if it works then i"ll be sticking with the Pad Crasher.
  15. You can definitely put 4lb line on it. The line capacity suggestions are just for the amount of line you can fit on the reel, nothing else. You can fit a lot more 4lb on than 6 or 8.
  16. This year as soon as the ice melts, I plan on fishing for some Northern Pike. At least until the water warms a little and then I'll switch to bass. I know pike spawn right after ice-out and they do so in very shallow water. Does any one have any advice on what to throw after ice-out? Do I stick with the same presentation and lure? Or do I slow down and down-size? I know pike remain active in cold water. I am primarily a bass fisherman, so in just not sure about early spring pike. Pike are usually accidental catches for me when I'm going for bass.
  17. This month's issue of Field & Stream has a rainbow trout recipe. Looks awesome.
  18. When I am in the tackle store, I find it harder to NOT buy a rod.
  19. All the water around here is still solid. Even the river looks like you could drive a truck on it still.

  21. Lucky you...When will they have it up and running?
  22. Remember; quit while you're ahead!
  23. 4.5' max depth? Whoah, after this winter I would check if there are any fish left in that pond.
  24. It's too early.
