  1. RedEarth, so are you saying that driving around in a red Ferrari isn't more fun than driving in a rusted Neon, even if both get you from A to B?
  2. I personally think it's more fun to cast 150' than it is to cast 50'. I think it's more fun to feel a hit on a super-sensitive rod than it is to not feel a strike at all on a cheap Ugly Stik. I think it is more fun to use a combo that feels comfortable in your hand rather than one that doesn't.
  3. Got the Yamamoto popper I gotta try this year. Looks good, don't see why it wouldn't work. It has a smaller profile which I like.
  4. Sadly, I think this might be true.
  5. I was about 5 years old, fishing from a dock on a small lake. I was using a night crawler with no weight and it had been out there for a while. I started reeling in and felt weight on the line so I told my dad I had a fish. He didn't believe me, thinking I just had weeds as the lake was filled with them. After reeling in all my line, my dad reaches into the water and pulls out a 11-12" bass covered in weeds and slime. AWESOME. That feeling is why I still fish.
  6. Popper for calm water during morning or evening. Jitterbug for after dark. Spook for when the baitfish are schooling at the top of the water column.
  7. Try the brush hog on the C-rig! It's great.
  8. You must be Bill Dance?
  9. Understandable. They just recently extended bass season to the whole year, as long as it's with artificial lures only (all I use anyway).
  10. My Atlanta Braves hat.
  11. Wow you are right. I knew that, just forgot. Thank you for reminding me. And true, I could always go "bass fishing". But there is probably a reason that pike season is closed during this time. I'll just go for bass like usual, and possibly have some accidental pike.
  12. 7" Culprit Fat Max Zoom Baby Brush Hog YCB Hula Grub
  13. Here in Upstate NY the rivers are still frozen almost solid. We have a LONG way to go unfortunately. Temps dropping down to the low teens again tonight.
  14. Try black-bottomed topwaters. In the murky water, black is what contrasts the best. Try a black jointed jitterbug...it displaces a lot of water upon retrieve and they make them in all black.
  15. During the summer, on a calm morning I always start off with a Chugbug or Jitterbug.
  16. What you can do is get an anchor with a long rope, and make a line and number for every foot on the rope. Then just drop the anchor down and you know exactly how deep it is.
  17. Wow I hope this never happens to me.
  18. Square bill: Bomber square A Topwater: Storm Chugbug, Arbogast jointed jitterbug Jerkbait: Matzuo Phantom Minnow (this jerkbait has the BEST action you can have on a jerkbait. If you don't believe me try it out)
  19. Spinnerbaits and jigs. Gonna really work on them this year.
  20. They are pickerel magnets for sure.
  21. I got a Yamamoto popper over the winter. I'm curious about these hard baits as well. Anxious to get out and try them as soon as the ice melts.
  22. The only problem with using crankbaits from sure is it's tough to keep the bait in the strike zone long enough. You gotta cast really far to keep it down long enough. One advantage is as you reel it back towards shore, it will run into bottom and kick stuff up, which can trigger a strike.
  23. I think it from the elbows resting on the knees for too long lol. Cuts off the circulation.
  24. Yes very scary. They are saying he might have mild brain damage because of it. I guess the Red's are holding him out at least until after the All-Star break.
  25. Just picked up a Poppin' Pad Crasher today. At least a couple bucks cheaper than Spro or Livetarget, so if it works then i"ll be sticking with the Pad Crasher.
