  1. I dont have any Mirage leader, but had thought about that. A 70 meter spool of 0x tippet is $36 on the Orvis website. I could probably get some amount off that retail, but 200 yards of seaguar 15 lb is $26 shipped on TW... so that's where I have landed. Good thought tho!
  2. Thanks for the input everyone. I think im going to go with the Seaguar AbrazX 15 lb to start.
  3. So... I have a solid base of 50 lb p-pro braid on my Abu Revo S, getting her set up for this spring. This is my first baitcaster, so i am going to be pitching with it mostly, and doing some cranking with it potentially. Paired with a veritas 7' MH, fast action (I realize not a great cranking rod). What is everyone's favorite brand of Fluoro to use as a leader attached to braid? I know to match up my diameters, but I have seen a lot of mixed reviews out there on different sites. I wasn't sure if people have a differing opinion on fluoro to use as a leader vs. using it for the entire line. Budget doesn't bother me that much, as a spool should last me a while using it as just leader. Thanks guys
  4. Just parused through the site. Wow, could you get lost on there haha. doesnt seem like you would end up paying much more than a jig from any fishing store, good deal. thanks for sharing.
  5. I wouldnt say i am too mechanically inclined haha, but i like the idea of breaking it in for a bit. Thanks for the input guys. About 10 weeks till my season opens, cant wait to take her for a cast. Paired with a veritas 7' mh fast action... Thing is a lot stiffer than anything I have ever used.
  6. Hey guys, Just got my new Revo S in the mail, pretty darn excited. Anything i should do right out of the box? And what kind of regular maintenance should i be doing? This is my first baitcaster, so i want to treat her right. Tight lines
  7. Thanks for the welcome everyone! Definitely some great info on here. Tight lines
  8. $2 for the 6th sense on tw, definitely giving them a shot. Do you lose them often?
  9. Im interested to hear about what guys have done to stop their bullet weights from sliding down their line, usually with a texas rig. I have seen some of those rubber stoppers but have never tried them. I thought of using tungsten putty, but that could get expensive. Also, is this something i should even be worried about? Thanks
  10. Hey everyone, My name's Sam, and i live in manchester, VT. I grew up outside of Boston fishing for bass at Farm pond in Dover and the charles river, as well as Striper along the MA shore. My family has a 20' Key West dual console boat moored in Danvers, and I have caught many fish off the shores and islands of cape anne, mostly with tubing worms and sea worms. My dad taught me to fly fish when I was 8, and i have taken some trips to Tall Timber lodge in Pittsburgh, NH, the top of the connecticut river. Ive done some more fly fishing here in vermont, but i enjoy bass fishing more. I have fished plenty of vermont waters in the past couple years. I like to go smallmouth fishing in the ct river, and have found smallmouth, largemouth, pike, pickerel, chub, brookies, bows and browns all within an hour of my house. I just bought my first baicaster, an abu revo s, and am looking forward to learning how to flip and pitch this summer. I also have a shimano stradic 4000 fj, which is great, and will probably be getting a 2500 fj for lighter tackle. Anyways, happy to join the conversation. Tight lines
  11. I can get a Shimano stradic 2500 fj for $90, or the 4000 for $100 through a work discount. Should I consider any other spin reels at this price point or a little more? I currently own a 4000, but wouldn't mind changing it up for my other setup. Primarily using it for bass and pickerel in vermont/new england, sometimes pike. Pairing it with a 6'6" st croix MH fast action rod.
