  1. I just upgraded my boat to a 24v trolling motor, just bought 2 new batteries and had a few questions about hooking everything up... Can I run the trolling motor directly to the battery or is it better to have a plug?? Also, making sure I have this right... Basically I would need to connect the two batteries using a cable and do so with a positive and a negative, then the free positive and negatives would run to the trolling motor... Yes/no?? Thanks again guys!
  2. Do you think leaving them rigged on for a few days ruins them??
  3. Anyone rig all their rods up the day before(assuming you know what the weather is going to be like), plastics and all?? I've always read that you should leave plastics in their packaging or in a Plano case until you need them... Do you guys really think plastics are effected that much if you leave them rigged on for a day or two???
  4. Thats when I normally see the issue Todd, when I'm up on the trolling motor and not moving very fast.... I mark a few way points on the hds 7 which is at my console and then go up to the 5 and attempt to cast towards the way point but it is near impossible... I'm going to try north up and see if that fixes the issue... Todd you will probably know the answer to this question... When I mark waypoints and turn on range rings(I think thats what its called, the little circles that help tell me how far something is), what are the intervals of the circles??? How many feet??
  5. Ok I will do that, thanks. What is the reason that it starts spinning out of control??
  6. I have an HDS-7 on the console and a 5 by the trolling motor with structure scan... I just purchased the 7 and moved the 5 near my trolling motor, both units run off the transducers near the transom. For some reason my chart starts to spin around in circles on my hds-5 and I have no idea where my actual way point is or where the ledge I'm trying to fish is... Does anyone have a fix for this? I was reading online and it sounds like you can uncheck a box that says something about north up?? Anyone had this problem and does anyone know if the north up fixes it?? Haven't had the boat back on the water to test the north up fix.
  7. Easy thing to remember... Generally trouble hooks you can set the hook to the side, non trouble hooks real down and set it straight up.
  8. Ok thank you, its just a matter of where you want to put the transducer?? Which since I have one it only makes sense to put it on the back of the boat and not on the trolling motor...
  9. Is there a way I can get the down scan and side scan to both units from one transducer???
  10. I was under the understanding that I can run an Ethernet cable from one to the other and then both have side and down scan... Is that not right?? I thought thats how it works and thats what I was told at Cabelas???
  11. Right now I have a HDS-5 GEN 2 on my console with I don't even know what at the trolling motor but its not good... Cabelas is running a pretty good deal on Lowrances right now so I'm going to buy the HDS-7 GEN 2 with side scan and don scan... My question is what do you guys think would be better; putting the bigger screen on the trolling motor where I spend most of the time and leaving the 5 on the console or putting the larger screen on the console and moving the 5 to the trolling motor????
  12. I posted on there a few times and didn't get a response... I assumed it was because it was a little early..
  13. 10 as a co?? Usually you don't see that many, any boater ever say anything to you?
  14. It can be different lake to lake as well, don't forget that.. You can have two lakes a mile away from each other and the fish could be doing two different things...
  15. I personally feel you were in one of the right areas... This time of year when the water temperature is lower fish will hold on those rocks ESPECIALLY when the sun is out because they will hold heat... What you need to look for are changes in the rocks; maybe when the rocks go for bigger rocks to smaller rocks, maybe sand to rocks or possibly rocks to deep areas. When you caught that 4 pounder what type of rocks were you on and were you near a deep drop off by those rocks? Maybe a weed bed near those rocks?? I'm a firm believer in what Mike Iaconelli says; 9 out of 10 bites aren't random.. Pay attention when you get that bite and figure out exactly where you were and what you were doing the with lure when you got it... All rip rap isn't equal and its those sudden changes in it that will hold the fish...
