  1. You do realize this is Wisconsin right? I'm pretty sure the only fish being that big that you're going to pull out there would be of a different species.
  2. Sounds like a good combo to me! It should do everything you're asking of it.
  3. Welcome to the forums.
  4. I think you should take it back and get him one with a fast action. It's plenty versatile to still throw everything like he is going to do and they aren't hard to learn to cast either. I was really impressed with the action of my Mojo's.
  5. Aside from my batteries and onboard charger I keep my spare prop back there, some hand tools and my docking lines.
  6. They're feeding you a crock of crap. I'd call back BPS again at a different time or talk to someone else and see if they'll do it. If not call someone higher up the ladder to complain. If you can't get them to do it for free, any marine dealer can put them on for you.
  7. The rod storage is the biggest drawback of the 72's. I've got a Sport R70 which is basically the single console version of that boat that will hold at least a 7'2" rod and I think it could squeak in a slightly longer one as well. The locker is slightly longer than the 72's because of the absence of the extra console. You wouldn't have a lot of options for adding room. You could do a few things to make it work though; you could keep them on the rod ramp to and from the lake. If you're fishing with a co-angler you could just move them up and keep them on the deck since you'll most likely be fishing with them. If I remember correctly, there was someone on this form who ended up modifying the back wall of the rod locker by cutting out a pass through hole. I'm pretty sure he was going to get an aluminum box made to cap it off under the console so it wouldn't remain open. Other than the rod issue, they'e great boats that fish a lot bigger than they actually are.
  8. Congrats on the new ride!
  9. You can add it on to their current units. The transducer is about $1,500. I looked at the price of the compatible units and the cheapest was $800 so as long as you don't need anything extra to make it work, it actually shouldn't be too bad.
  10. I've wondered that myself. They are my go to squarebill. *** just did a review on them and they said that they seem to be a dark horse in the fishing market. I couldn't be happier with them though. I've got a bunch of them in all 3 sizes. A couple good ones that came off a XCS100
  11. Hey guys just saw this video on the new Garmin Panoptix sonar. It looks like it has potential to be a real game changer with 3D live views of both in front of and under the boat. It supposedly allows you to see your bait as you retrieve it as well as seeing fish moving towards you or away from you and even if they're chasing after your bait. It officially debuts tomorrow at some big marine show in Miami. What are your guys thoughts on this? Do you think it'll be as big of a game changer as side and down imaging? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2AtZb9_z_k
  12. I fish weightless whenever possible.
  13. I use the Strike King baby rodent as well as the Missile Fuse 4.4.
  14. That side is more open since it usually only has the TM wires running through it where the one on the console side has everything that's going to the console.
  15. Nicely done, and nice garage. I wish my baby had a place like that to rest lol.
  16. I think they're pretty much the same. They're both good products and I haven't heard too many negatives on either. Overall I think the power poles are slightly more versatile than the Talons thanks to the drift paddle attachment, but then again the Talon offers a shorter stature while reaching the same depth. They're fairly comparable on weight and price so it really comes down to which features are right for you.
  17. Although it doesn't have a formal name, I refer to it as the blue beast every now and again.
  18. A rod like that could double as a lighter A rig setup, big crankbaits (if you back your drag off), c rig, big jig, flippin' and pitchin' rod, some swimbaits. You can find plenty of uses for it other than froggin'. Just a warning though, I told myself I could use my froggin' rod for other things too, but about 95% of the time I couldn't convince myself to tie up anything other than a frog on it. haha
  19. Congrats on that hog! and you're killing me with the fact that you've gotten on the water that recently. The water up here got hard around the second week of November I believe, and it will stay that way until early April. :/ I've got the itch really bad!
  20. Being that it gets drawn down that far and it's only 20 feet deep at it's deepest I'm not sure how much is really left to harbor a population over the winter. Not that there can't still be bass in there, but from what I'm seeing I'd be skeptical as to how many fish will be in that lake.
  21. I bought one of the high end Mustang PFD's last spring and couldn't be happier. It's got the hydrostatic auto inflation so it doesn't matter if it gets soaked or not. It will only go off if it's submerged under 4" or more of water. I'm really happy with how comfortable it is and although it was pricey I feel it was worth it.
  22. I would think this would give you a more natural look to the bait and also prevent it from drifting off or moving very much. Using a drop shot would allow you to use more weight and it stays off away from the bait. If you're using a bigger jig head it would increase the profile of whatever soft plastic you were using on the back of it along with the fact that it might look unnatural to have a big jig head with a small finesse bait on the hook. I'm not sure if that's why or not, but it's what I could come up with.
  23. I would go for the D series. You don't want them to start bouncing around when you're running down the lake.
  24. I've got the GoPro 3+ Black Edition. They have a very wide field of view, but on the 3's you can choose between 3 or 4 field of views so you can narrow it up considerably if need be. I'm not sure if you can do that on the 2's as well or not. Overall though I'm really satisfied with what I've got. Here are some of the screen caps I took last year with it that I have on my work computer.
