  1. Roger, didn't they sell their catalog sales to Cabelas about that same time. I believe as a part of that agreement Gander Mountain could not start catalog sales again for "X" number of years and , if I'm correct, may not have been able to have internet sales for that same period. Memory not what it once was, but I seem to remember something like that......Al
  2. Did you follow the directions on the can? Water should bead up like a new wax job on your car/truck. Water can't get to the material but you must reapply every few years to keep it fairly fresh.
  3. Spray it with a product called "Camp Dry". You can get it at BPS and most outdoor stores, $8-$10 a can. Will renew your rain suit. Really a good product....
  4. Thanks,just ordered an STX
  5. I am retired from the USPS as well. The Postal Inspectors can catch them easily by just following the mail, however a conviction is another matter. The local police are nearly unless in a matter like this. I would suggest you contact the inspectors. Actually a supervisor from your local post office should have done this for you, and may have. The forwarding system is very complicated, not nearly as simple as stated here. Once a piece of mail has left a local office(forwarded) it is difficult for anyone to reach out and pick up. The system was set up to make it easy for customers, unfortunately this also makes it easy for scammers. The forwarding date is also determined by the customer, not immediately in most cases. Your wife should have been able to cancel the forwarding order immediately at your local office and any mail still there returned. Almost no mail is left in a local office over night as rules require it be sent somewhere in the system. The Postal Inspectors are very good at what they do and should be able to catch these folks easily. I would suggest you contact your local office, they should have notified the inspectors.
  6. I have not fished Cherokee in nearly a year but spinnerbaits and flukes can work well in april/may on Cherokee, so have them ready to try.
  7. Since you added oil the first place I would look is the oiling system. Isn't there a priming system in the small engine oil tank? Look at the engine oil tank and sensor, especially if the oil was very low. Just a guess but you may be getting a low oil alarm. My ox66 has done that once because of low oil in the engine tank.
  8. I installed mine in 2004 and they still work fine except when launching the boat, I sometimes must ratchet up the slack now instead of it retracting on its own. I purchased the stainless steel version. Not sure if it matters, but I would highly recommend them.
  9. US Navy Senior Chief 21yrs 4 mos 27days 1964-1986 should have stayed longer, loved it
  10. Trim the motor up(with power tilt/trim) to increase RPMs and speed. More than normal for me as I do not run wide open normally. Wide open will help decarbon the outboard.
  11. I agree and I also run the last few miles of every fishing trip wide open and trimmed up to clean it out before putting it on the trailer.
  12. Drift socks are not necessary for any type of fishing. They are a tool that sometimes help you under certain circumstances. I have used them when drift fishing to slow down the boat when the wind is blowing hard. They work very well for that problem in slowing down how fast the wind can blow the boat. I have never used them in current situations. Someone else can address that aspect.
  13. If you are military inquire about fishing on the Naval Weapons Station. Numerous large and small ponds to fish, good fishing also.
  14. If you are coming in on I-40 you will probably exit onto hwy 66 at exit 407. At that exit is a BassPro Shop, go to the fly shop and ask the employees there about fishing the Pigeon River in the Gatlinburg area. Several of them fish that river and should be able to help. There are different regulations(no treble hooks, barbless hooks, etc) and licensing requirements depending on which part of the river you are fishing. I do not know them or fish those waters, so I can't help. There is also a Orvis shop in Pigeon Forge that should be able to help. Folks here are very friendly and more than willing to help, so don't be afraid to ask...
  15. A few years ago the Elite series fished here on Douglas Lake. Many of the fishermen were long lining or as some locals called it, "strolling". They would drop their lure in the water, open the bail, engage the trolling motor, run the boat 100 yards or so, stop the boat, engage the bail and retrieve the lure with the reel. This is legal by B.A.S.S. rules but seems very close to trolling to me. I recently spent a week in Florida fishing nothing but live bait and had a ball doing it. Personally I don't care how you catch fish as long as no explosives are involved, lol. Just get out and go enjoy yourself. I also don't care if you take a limit home to eat.
  16. Those will not work. They are charging cables designed to handle about 10 amps and will burn up if you try to use them for your application. Those are used from a charger to the battery, not from battery to trolling motor. Your trolling motor will draw about 40 amps, and you should use at least 6 gauge wiring.
  17. I'm sure they have a fishing team. Good luck and never stop the search for knowledge.
  18. My Champion came with Swivel-Eze...
  19. If you ever get to East Tennessee let me know, it is beautiful and many lakes. I live on Douglas Lake but 5 or so large lakes(TVA) are within an hours drive. All of Tennessee has good fishing and nice country except maybe the Memphis area. Just have a hard time bragging about that area, lol.
  20. Very nice, I love barn wood.
  21. Wow, I stand corrected. The last I had heard Stratus was making a Champion hull, now it is Charger. Glad someone is making it, the Champion ride is incredible. Charger added a few nice bells and whistles. I like it....
  22. I agree, it's a very nice boat but if you are wanting something close to a Champion I would suggest looking at Legend boats. I have not compared the boats but Legend appears to me to be very close to a Champion hull. Or was your subject title a mistake?
  23. I would try a Smithwick Rogue shallow running version with two or three dots. I'm sure others will catch fish but I have had success with that brand.
  24. I have not fished it this year but clown colored suspending jerk baits around large rock typically produce this time of year if water temp is still in the 50's. At least that's where I would start. Cherokee can produce some big bags. You may want to add a few suspend dots to them also.
