  1. Thank you smalljaw and the other other replies. Makes sense as to why you don't hear about them being used much around here with our crappy water quality and stained color. I may give it a go at our other clear water fisheries that are pressured though. The big forage isn't a problem the majority of our lakes all have big gizzard Shad. Just looking for something different that the fish here haven't seen. Thanks again
  2. I possibly should have been more specific. Hair jigs to use for deep summer schools, 1/2oz to 3/4oz jigs.
  3. Would like to start throwing these this summer. I figure it's not thrown a lot around here locally and a lot of our local fisheries get a tremendous amount of fishing pressure from different tournaments and trails. So I figured this would be the best way to learn some info from seasoned vets.
  4. I should have clarified my answer. A Zenith Shakey head from Mike at Siebert Outdoors. I was prefishing and not really trying to land fish just get bit but every fish that bit I landed and couldn't shake off not matter how hard I tried. 6lber I caught in a tourney on it last month in a brushpile on a dock.
  5. Early Spring morning
  6. There was an epic amount of water moving through the Bend last Spring so a lot of it got washed out which is why there's such a big decrease in the Giant Salvinia there. It may not be the exact cause but after watching a video from a drone of the spillway last year of all the water flowing out I can tell you that it certainly didn't facilitate the growth and continuation of the main submerged vegetation.
  7. Emergent vegetation, as well as Caddo.
  8. I've got a Two day club tourney at the Bend middle of Sept, I'll be following this thread closely.
  9. The only jig I need is a Sieberts. Quality- check Pricing-check Pretty-check Durable-check what else could one want?
  10. I love them. They have a wide wiggle and come through grass excellent. I wouldn't throw it in colder water temps because of the wide wiggle but from now until early winter i think it would be great. Here right now it would be perfect with the shad spawn.
  11. Here lately I have been throwing two things, one of which has been working the other has not. Siebert Outdoors Swim Jig 3/8 in Blue Sapphire Shad to search for actively feeding fish. Still to chilly for em to want to chase and eat it but will start getting bit pretty dang soon. Siebert Outdoors Dredge Brush Jig in PB&J with beaver style trailer, flippin/pitchin shallow cover on the shoreline, isolated shallow cover or shoreline transitions, meaning chunk rock to grass. Usually get bit right where the two meet against the bank. They aren't hammering it but they just pick it up and swim with it. caught a limit on this last Saturday and caught 6 in 4 hours the following day on a different lake doing the same thing.
