  1. Yep, probably a smallmouth. Most of them around me have red eyes, I feel like the smaller ones (where a 12" one would fall) usually do more than the larger ones but that may be because I catch more smaller ones.
  2. I always keep multiple packs in my pack. These are one of my go to baits. I will fish them weightless in small ponds and use a small wacky jig head on choppier waters. I use the bluegill color the most. These won't catch big bass consistently but will give you numbers even on the toughest days.
  3. I think a jig would get bites in any season.
  4. I have a couple of those my father gave to me. Ive caught a couple steelhead on them.
  5. This sounds like a great idea. If you were to use a senko as the weight would you need to peg a weight above it or would you be able to use it weightless?
  6. Thanks for l the suggestions. I'm trying to downsize some of my crankbaits collection and am about to buy some custom ones for a bit of money and don't have enough to spurge on a a lot of colors. My go to has always been white and gill. And it seems that these wouldn't be to bad in most situations.
  7. I usually go for dark green because most clear lakes in my area are filled with vegetation so it blends well and it doesn't matter much for stained water.
  8. Is there a color that will perform well in any water clarity and depth? Would black or Pearl be.a good choice?
  9. My PB is a little over 5 pounds and is the fish in my profile pic. I went to a small pond at a local park to fish for about an hour. I saw some commotion by the bank in about one foot of water. Water clarity was 3-4 feet and it was a sunny day and was early fall. As soon as I started reeling my Cotton Cordell crawdad color squarebill I thought I got snagged; then the snag started to fight. I got him in and new it was my PB by over a half pound. I have hooked two since then that I knew were bigger than this but lost them both. I have not come even close to this fish since.
  10. I'll put in another vote for original Power Pro. The couple times I've spooled with Super 8 Slick I didn't like how it behaved compared to the original.
  11. My Tournament MG (Which has mag braking) does the same thing if I don't have it dialed in perfectly, which isn't always easy to do. I never remember it effecting my casting distance though, usually the overrun will all come out during the cast.
  12. Does anyone make a two piece heavy rod at a low price? I have found many just over 100 but nothing lower. I am searching for a new frog/jig rod and am having no luck. I thought I remember Abu making one but cannot find it. Any help is appreciated.
  13. I do really well on smoke with blue black and gold flake. I usually throw that or green pumpkin for fairly clear water and in murky water I'll throw something a bit darker, but I know of a couple places where I can get bit all day on a bubblegum or chartreuse senko. I agree with some other posts is that the biggest factor which makes a senko a successful bait is the action, not so much the color.
  14. I use Owner Twistlock hooks for a lot of applications, if not those then I use Gamakatsu and Lazer Trokar almost exclusively. I have confidence in these and feel the craftsmanship is up to par.
  15. From my experience, if the bass has the hooks at all then chances of hooking it again are very very low. If they side swipe it and miss all hooks they might hit it again and will most likely hit another bait right away.
