  1. Hey everyone, I am looking for members that have or had a tackle business within the state of Missouri. I am looking to make my company official and would like some pointers on what forms to use to attain my license. I could also use advice from those who operate in other states for pointers, but I figured the ones in my home state will know our current state laws and procedures to attaining such licenses.
  2. Thanks the input you guys. Another thing has anyone ever heard of applying for a small business grant to get their tackle biz started? I know there are small business grants out there, but has anyone ever heard of or know anyone who actually has?
  3. Never mind everyone I got my answer. I feel really dumb right now.
  4. Ok so here is my question. I am looking to start making my own football jigs to combat the high prices at the tackle shop. My biggest concern is when curing the paint and this might be a really dumb question because of common sense, BUT. When painting and curing do you do this with the weedguards in or not. Like I said common sense tells me that since you have to head the heads up to apply the paint, then bake to cure you wouldn't paint and cure with the weedguards in. I have no tackle making experience, just the videos I have watched. Come to think about it I don't recall ever seeing a jig painting video that ever contained the weedguards while they were being painted and cured. Maybe that is my answer. What are your thoughts on this?
  5. I have been looking at this item for a while now. I really like how it works and really want one, but I have a kid on the way so my budget is extremely limited. It may be something I ask for for my birthday coming up in December though. I think I am going to try the wire tying method. I can salvage the skirts that I haven't lost yet, and I can easily and affordably tie my own jigs with the same technique. Thanks for everyone's input!
  6. I was honestly considering buying the rigs and tools to make my own skirts. Now I think I will just use the wire tie method to bring new life back to all of my neked jigs and spinner/buzz baits. Thank you for the idea sir!
  7. I never really thought of that. Any way you can post a picture or two to show how you tie your skirts?
  8. I have some baits that have either stretched collars or the collars have eroded from heat or prolonged exposer to sunlight. Does anyone know any homemade remedies to spreading new collars to pull my silicone through without any special tools?
  9. Yeah, like I said with my lunch only an hour and the drive being ten min one way I am narrowed down to only 40 min of fishing. That time is dwindled down even more if I haven't prepared and tied on what I am planning on throwing as soon as I get there the night before. I try to fish it to the best of my ability but I guess I am only getting what time will really allow. Thanks for replying though, I knew it would have been a tough topic because I am sure not many members are from the area. By chance do you know anyone in the area that pours jigs? I am trying to partner up with a pourer to start a small bait company and I don't know anyone in the area that pours their own lead.
  10. Hey guys, I work here in Warrensburg and on most occasions I make the short ten min drive out to Hazel hill Lake for my 1 hour lunch. With my lunch break being so short I don't have the ability to actually get out on the water. I am limited to the bank and dock. Yesterday I was drop shotting around the dock and along the standing timber out closest to the bank I could reach with my cast. I got a few bites but not as many as I am used to while in the boat. Has anyone fished this lake and what are your secrets to getting more bites.
  11. I usually check the weather the night before, then again right before I head out. The thing about the weather here in Missouri, you can never bet on it to be right. I usually carry most of the tackle that I use year round in my truck. If I didn't have a kid on the way I would find a way to tear the seats out and make a tackle system in the back to store all my gear. I survey the conditions. Feel to see what I can guess the water temp is then I look at what my options are. Is there standing timber, grass lines, downed trees? Are there inlets or coves that fish might move back into. Where are the baitfish, which way is my wind how is the chop on the water. After I get a good feel for what or how to fish I just tie on to match. I try to cover as much of the water as I can until I get on some bites them I fish it till the bite slows.
  12. Hey guys (and gals) I am looking to star producing football jigs. I am looking for unpainted weed less football jig heads in bulk. Approx 100 pcs per pack. I can't spend a ton of money as I am just getting started. I would like to eventually pour my own but for now I am just looking to get started with pre-made jig heads. Can anyone help me with where I can get bulk heads for a decent price. Or can anyone pour me some? looking for 1-8 all the way to 1 oz. I am also looking at pouring my own plastics in the near future as well. -Matt
  13. OK so I fish crank bait's on some days exclusively depending on conditions. MY question is, should I use swivels on the end of my line for my cranking set up and what are the reasons why?
  14. Mid MO Bass Initiative We are forming a new bass club in west central ( KC Region) Missouri. Mid Mo Bass Initiative is a club dedicated to bass fishing. We're trying to provide an outlet for the weekend warriors who want to get out there and catch fish or even just get away from the misses for a bit. Our founding members all have day jobs, and we understand that our fishing most times, is limited to weekends and evenings on some occasions. We are a small growing club that is pushing efforts to raise our ranks, so that we may become competitive in local and regional tournaments. If you are interested in beoming a member of MMBI feel free to contact me via PM or you can email me at chapman1716@yahoo.com. as of right now there are no member dues as we are still trying to gain new members and establish our club officials. Once our leadership is in place we will sit down and discuss the terms, rules, and regulations of our club. Whatever your skill level is you, are welcome to join our club. If you don't have a boat, no problem. We just want members who love to fish and want to be a part of a club that shares the same interests. Our club practices catch and release however, if you happen to catch that record fish or even your lifetime best, it is your option to do with that fish what you may like. We have a few local and corporate advertisement sponsors, with more sponsorship opourtunities currently in the works. Our current sponsors only offer advertisements of their brand logo on our jerseys and equipment. We will be working towards product sponsorships later in the spring. If you know of any mom and pop shops, or local companies that would be willing to provide advertisement sponsorships feel free to contact me with their information so that I may request a letter of intent, giving us access to their company name and logo. thank you and I hope to hear from you soon and see you out on the water!
