  1. anything typically thrown on a spinning reel not named a wacky rig or drop shot. I think most people (including me) like to use the broom stick with the winch on it.
  2. ive always kind of noticed in central wisconsin where i live they are almost always mixed in. it doesnt seem to affect were the bass hang out, its just that they are sharing the same food source. it sucks but ive gotten used to catching hammer handle northerns when i bass fish. they have stolen more money in frogs than i care to count. Thats probably why my grandpa used to give them "less than gentile releases"
  3. check out zman baits. almost all of them float and you can fish just about an entire day with one plastic bait. especially if youre like me and you dont catch many fish

    Buzzbaits

3/8 booyah buzzbait with a black skirt and black blade with a clacker on a 7'' MH rod, add some 15-20lb braid and its money time
  5. as long as youre buying lews you wont be disappointed. ive owned three now and i love all of them i probably wont buy another brand untill one of them lets me down
  6. thats true i will admit it kills me to slow wind a 7:1, i had to buy a 5.4:1 so that i could burn the handle and slow roll cranks.
  7. My dad caught a small mouth on a milk dud a few years ago. i couldnt believe it
  8. you can always slow down your retrieve with a 7:1 but you cant make a 6.4:1 faster
  9. Ive been a huge fan of the arashi series by storm but i fished the Luck-E-Strike Rick Clunn square bill this year and it seems to be an under- talked about crankbait
  10. i usually just slide it a few feet up the line and leave it on. i feel like it doesnt really hurt anything in my opinion
  11. For me its netbait or havoc. Just wondering if anyone else is partial to certain brands of plastics, what do you use?
  12. how much money have i spent on lures when i had a box of wrenches in my garage the entire time.
  13. thats a beautiful rod man, it gave me the chills.
  14. I cannot stand fishing crankbaits. Treble hooks get snagged and caught in the carpet in the boat. Hate em
  15. In wisconsin where I live you don't need a fishing licence till you are 16, and my dad and I got stopped by a warden on my 16th birthday! I told him I turned 16 in like a week and he believed me. I regret lying to the warden but I went home and baught a licence. No harm done
  16. There's a video on YouTube about the A rig it's called The Alabama Rig supernova or something like that. It's pretty long but it's super interesting and it tells you everything you need to know
  17. It's gotta be the Lews speed spool. Buy one lews I promice you won't ever want a different brand
  18. I'm gonna plan a bass fishing trip with a few buddies before we all move away for college and we were thinking of fishing the missisppi River pools. How is the fishing there?
  19. You know you're a fisherman when you're debating what type of line is best for pulling hooks out of flesh
  20. I see eagles all the time. But the coolest thing is when you can watch them swoop down and take a fish out with them. One time I was fishing for walleye in northern Wisconsin and my friend gut hooked a rock bass. We tried releasing in but it wasn't gonna make it so he just pitched it out and all of a sudden there where 3 eagles up circling it and one of them dove down and took it. Caught another one and pitched it out to see if they would do it again and sure enough they where all circling until one dove down to get it. Must have been a guide that would feed them or something, still fun to watch
  21. I was fishing with my dad once and he pulled up an ugly stick with a diawa spinning real on it. Haha I'll never forget how confused he seemed when he finally saw it
  22. To be honest I think the lack of innovation is probably because we don't really need it to be changed. A bait that cought fish 40 years ago will still catch fish today. Fish have not changed for hundreds of years. I would love to see new baits on the market and new designs but there just really isn't much of a need for them, spinnerbaits are simple and catch fish, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
  23. I would strongly recomend searching "bassresource" on YouTube and watching their videos. I used to strictly fish for walleye and I essentially learned how to bass fish exclusively from watching their videos, they are very helpful.
  24. My 3 go to plastics are a yum dinger in a green pumpkin watermelon, a soon super fluke, and any beaver style bait, I prefer the B-Bug by net bait in a junebug or green pumpkin
  25. RBF got it right 100% a flasher will help you catch 10 times more fish. After fishing with my vexilar ice fishing without it almost feels pointless. Also buy a gas auger, if you rely on a hand auger you will find that you do less hole hopping and in turn you catch less fish. Your also going to need a fairly large sled. Ice fishing is more of a pain in the butt than open water but it holds me over for the winter months. Good luck!
