  1. Ya I specifically bought a tatula sv to throw lighter baits, but weightless flukes and trigs is what I wanted a spinnning setup for outside of my drop shot rod.
  2. I've started to try and use more spinning gear this season and had some questions about my setups best uses. I've listed the spinning reels and rods I have and would like to know how the combos could be best used. (I have an extra rod that I have not paired a reel with) Reels: Daiwa BG 2000 (Suffix 10lb braid to Sunline 8lb fc leader) Daiwa BG 3000 (PowerPro 10lb braid to Sunline 8lb fc leader) Rods: Dobyns Sierra 692SF Dobyns Fury 702SF Dobyns Fury 703SF
  3. Yup. Pushed in as far as it will allow me. Funny that i can plug the sidevu cable into the xdcr sonar slot, and it doesn't complain....but of course then my graph is all wack at that point. Garmin is having me send them the transducer for warranty work.
  4. Anyone else have an issue with their unit where the transducer is not recognized? It was working well, and now when the unit starts it says the transducer is disconnected. Power down and check transducer connector to enable sonar. I've received a 2nd y cable from Garmin support, but still same issue.
  5. Thanks guys. I ended up ordering the Sierra 692sf.
  6. Just picked up a daiwa bg 3000 series rod for finesse fishing. I have a few fury’s, a savvy and Sierra 735 I use for my frog rod. All casting. Is the Sierra price tag worth it over the fury for sensitivity? Also would a 700 Sierra work for drop shot? Or should I stick to a 702 for drop shots and shaky heads?
  7. i'm looking at a garmin refurbished unit.
  8. Any issue purchasing refurbished fish finders?
  9. I fish a lot of creek channels that are only about 20feet wide in some areas, how wide does it map/draw? And does the quickdraw feature need to be selected on the screen, or will it proactively draw as I have traditional sonar/dv selected on the screen?
  10. Can someone explain the difference with these units? I'm looking for a new ff for my kayak, and there are 3 price points for each of the GPS/Preloaded/Navionics options on Lowrance's site without much definition.
  11. thanks - yes i picked one up. Great. Thanks for the input.
  12. Its a tacoma, so i think a 5.5ft bed, with the gate down might bet another foot and a half.
  13. Can i safely transport a 11.5 foot kayak in the back of my short bed truck without a bed extender? Could anything happen to the kayak from the extra length hanging off warp the hull or anything?
  14. Thanks everyone. I think now that the fishing is slow for me, I'm going to concentrate on reading the water via my deph finder. Something I'm still struggling with. Hopefully i can find some ledges and start throwing a drop shot and slowly crawl it back to the boat/kayak.
  15. I'm looking for help on whats been working on the water. With the water temps in the high 80s, i've been struggling to get bass in the boat/kayak. So far I've been skunked on the Ni Reservoir and looking to go back out to Hunting Run then Occoquan this weekend. I fish from both a bass boat, and kayak and been throwing the following pretty routinely: Frog/Buzz bait between 8am-9am. Chatterbait/Spinnerbait/Swim Jig. I rotate in 20-30 minute increments. (Keitech trailers) Before I call it quits, i switch to a trig 10" worm/7.5" worm and basically "couch" fish from the front of the boat, slowly. I have not been throwing crankbaits, and maybe i should start.
  16. My first boat was a topper 1432. Over the winter, i put a casting deck on etc. Here are some of the links i followed: https://www.tinboats.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=18860 https://www.tinboats.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=13357&sid=ff73d09aea6935ae00c6a6b1db5f9ae1&start=45
  17. Unfortunately I don't have a garage and keep my tracker covered 100% of the time. As others mentioned, the sun is the hardest than most other elements. I've had custom covers on previous boats, but the specific tracker model cover that came with the boat has the best overall fit than others i've tried. And its super tough. No rips/tears etc in 2+ years. Pricey, but i suspect I will get the money back when I go to sell and upgrade.
  18. I managed to hook into my first snakehead with a top water frog. While I've caught a ton of snakeheads, i've never had one swallow my frog like this one did. I've never had a blowup where the frog was deep in the mouth. It was in pretty bad shape, jaw broken etc, luckily I paddled about 100yds to the pier and gave it to someone who was going to eat it, I catch and release always. Didn't even have a knife or bat to end its misery quickly. What do you do in this situation?
  19. Not staying at the lake. I live about an hour north in Stafford. I've fished the waters locally, just wanted to get out and discover some new water.
  20. Are there preferred launch spots? I'm taking both boat and kayak and never fished this lake.
  21. Spinner/Chatter bait have been my #1 confidence lure this season. I started out with 12# Yo-zuri hybrid, slowly started settling on 20# Yozuri topknot fluoro. I've had great success with both. Decided to step up to 20# 100% fluoro when I was ripping snakeheads out of the vegetation around my way...handled with no problem. Both setups are fished from a dobyns fury 703c.
  22. Have a little more than a year old lexa 100, and its not free spinning. Thinking it might be the bearings? Any help would be appreciated - thanks.
  23. I need some help when fishing the Potomac. I went out today and it was definitely low tide and it rained all night last night. I could not get close to any shoreline or doxks because the water was so shallow and there was so much grass. I saw other bass boats but they were a good bit from the shoreline as well. How do you fish through all that grass on the Potomac?
  24. Got it. So if I planned to swim my plastics through thick grass I should stick with the superline, otherwise I'll stick to my fine wire. Thanks.
