  1. How deep were they?
  2. Thanks for all the info and I'll try it! Would docks be a good place to try too? I know they're usually around docks in most lakes.
  3. Anyone ever fished Broken Bow in Oklahoma and have tips for me? Im goin there next week and hope to catch some big bass. Here is a map: Also, what is a good website to get free contour/topo maps for lakes? Thanks yall!
  4. Hey yall, I was wanderin what yall (especially tournament anglers) do when youre headed to a new lake for the first time. Just what you look at, the websites you find information on, books you get, stuff you look for when you get in the boat, etc. (If you don't want a lot of people to know just direct message me. Im 15 so I wont be competin against any of yall.) I have a lake maps book for Oklahoma and when I start the regional tourneys ill probably get a book for the states around. I usually look at that, look on youtube, old fishin reports, and other stuff like that to see what people had caught them on before.
  5. You let your co angler use all that? I wouldn't mind
  6. Not very many weird animals Probobly most significant time was I was fishin in a neighborhood pond in the middle of town and there was a giant tom turkey that I flushe out of a tree Scared the heck outa me but I wishe I had my bow cuz it WAS spring turkey season! Haha
  7. Water tip in bay where discharge channel came into was 50.2-50.6 so not quite pre spawn But ya I'll go back and hammer those cattail cuz those looked magical! Hahaha
  8. Alrighty I just left the lake We launched the boat at the north ramp at 8:15 (kinda got there late) and we went across closer to the discharge channel We went all around the cattail sand into the channel flippin the cattails and throwin lipless cranks and square bills around the outside of the cattails and the drop offs in the discharge canal. Then we saw two guys holding two 6-8 pound lmb's and so we went a hundred yards or so west of em where we thought it was about the same depth and we casted a bunch and nothin. But that whole time we were there the wind was poundin us. Probobly around 30 mph winds with up to 45-50 mph gusts we decided to call it a day. So not the best trip ever but we are goin to try it again in a month or so when the bass are beddin cuz the cattail were great lookin
  9. Okay thanks I'll try those! What boat ramp should I take off from? We should be gettin there before the sun rises.
  10. Back around October 10 in 2013 I was in one of my friend's two covered docks crappie fishin and all of a sudden he starts yellin and with a little crappie jig, very light line (of course because we had been catchin crappie), and a crappie rod, he had reeled a 20-25 pound catfish to the surface and right before I got the net under it the line all broke and we never saw the thing again! And then the next day we paddled down to a shallow rocky cove to try for some bass. We were both castin redeye shad rattletraps and he caught a 6 inch shad! It was so hungry that it resorted to cannibalism!
  11. Alright yall I will be goin to Lake Konawa in Oklahoma and I was wanderin if yall have any tips, experience with this lake, or anything to help me. Just in case youre wandrin, I will be in a bass tracker I think 18 feet. This seems like the perfect lake for me (my strongsuit is flippin and pitchin) and the forecast is showin the weather will be nice (although it IS Oklahoma )! Since its a powerplant lake, the intake side is cooler and the outtake side is warmer and I read some could already be spawnin. Any tips on lures, techniques, where in the lake to fish, etc would help and be greatly appreciated! Thank yall!
  12. Thanks Yall for the Replies! I have actually decided to go to Lake Konawa because I read because its a powerplant lake some bass spawn as early as the beginning of March! And the shorelines there are MAGIC! Im strongest at fi lippin and pitchin in grass so this lake is perfect for me since the deepest part is 30 feet and th bays that most fish are caught in are 10 feet at the deepest points!
  13. Alright y'all I'm headin to Cedar Lake in Oklahoma for some fishin on the 19. It's supposed to be 36 in the mornin and warm up to 63 later in the day with 7 mph wind. Y'all got any tips about this lake or where to fish or anything like that? Thanks for any help and advice!
  14. I live in Oklahoma so of course I don't get a chance to ice fish for bass but I've seen videos where people would get lipless crankbaits and just drop em and lift them up and keep dong that and they were catchin em http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WooRXs6kgWM Watch that video and skip to 1:50 and he is using it to ice fish
  15. Hey Yall, Im new to this site so just wantin to start out by sayin howdy. Anyways, I know its a little early to be askin this but any of yall have any experience fishing in Flint Creek in Oklahoma/Arkansas? I headed there in March or April and Im wantin to learn as much as I can to catch a lot of fish. Even give me any info that you have found fishin places like this. Its a river with some fast moving areas and slow moving areas with very, very clear water. I have fished there once before and my buds and me caught some smallies and largemouth that were small but fought pretty good. there are oxbows, weedbeds, waterfalls, rapids for features. Any tips or techniques? Im the kinda teenager savin up for a truck so I only have a 7 foot medium heavy rod with a 6.4 to 1 gear ratio baitcaster and a 6 foot 6 medium action rod with a spinner reel on it. Thanks for Anything and I Hope to Talk To Yall More, Christian
