  5. being a mercury guy i would go with the astro but i would definitely check both of the motors out good first.
  6. will the tilt/trim work in either direction. the first thing i would check is to make sure you getting power to the solenoids and if the solenoids are working. One way to do this is to take a screwdriver and ground the solenoids out on the two prongs. If the motor moves your solenoid is bad. If it dont the cahnces are your motor or hydraulic pump in the tilt/trim unit is bad. try this link it has some good infohttp://www.outboard-motors.us/
  7. try this link here it is fairly accurate. http://www.havefunfishing.com/fishingreports/sr_lake_hartwell_fishing_report.htm
  8. i was wanting to know if any of you guys use a fish head spin and what trailers you use. I normally use a zoom fluke but i am looking for something a little different and am interested to know if any of you has tried anything else besides a zoom fluke?
  9. I prefer to throw a jig. But i will throw a crankbait if i know the bass are fairly agressive.
  10. i live on hartwell lake on the gorgia side. The only requirements i know of is just your local and state laws. I am planning on being on the lake friday and sat durning the classic. The launch site is at portman marina off highway 24. I am not sure about how much acess will be to that ramp. But there is some good ramps nearby here. Also you may want to check out this website to see which ramps are opened or closed due to the drought.http://www.sas.usace.army.mil/lakes/hartwell/hartrampstat.htm.
  11. i was fishing a tourney one time when i cast up under this tree with a small rapala floating lure when i felt pressure on the line. when i got it reeled to the boat a snake about 2 and 1/2 foot long had came up and got caught on the lure.
  12. i was wanting to know if anyone knows where i can get a worm mold similar to the zoom ole monster worm. I wouldnt mind if it was just a little bigger not a whole lot maybe a little bulkier. any help is greatly appreciated.
  13. if the topwater bite is on I love throwing a buzzbiat or fluke
  14. i think another good thing for someone to learn about fishing either a c-rig or jig is to know that all fish will not hit the same. Sometimes a fish will hit aggressively and tap the line hard other times they may only grab hold the bait and hold it in place. Know how you bait is acting when coming over the bottom will help you detect bites that may normally miss.
  15. when going into a tourney I will have rods set up for certian things such a c-rig or jig, I also might have some set up for drop shot or finese setup. also will have rods with either a crankbait or spinner bait tied on. I usually have and idea of the color choices before going. By having rod rigged in different ways I can switch tactics as the pattern changes. Wheter it is the fish, weather or the type structure i am fishing.
  16. BFL the is just lower division of the FLW. you can fish as a boater or non boater. You actually fish the bfl and stren series to qualify for the FLW. The BFL is cheaper to fish than the BASS. http://flw.flwoutdoors.com/rules.cfm?cid=1#rules
  17. do i hear the bait monkey calling?????????
  18. i will be attending the classic since i only live about 30-45 min away and would like to meet with members brc and talk fishing.
  19. i agree with some of the others green pumpkin is one of my first choice no matter what type of soft plastic.
  20. i like to say thanks to all who has or is serving. i hope all our troops make it back home safely.
  21. on the upper end of my home lake there is a fairly good size river that comes from the dam. the water is pretty much always steady moving and i have caught some of my biggest bass out of this river also have won a few tourneys like this. These fish has learned to adapt to this moving water becuase each year baitfish migrate upward toward the dam and these bass just lay in the pockets and wait on a passing meal.
  22. I love fishing tourneys because of the competition not only against the the other anglers but tagainst myself to drive myself to do better. Another reason for fishing tourneys is I have a great partner who I enjoy fishing with and just hanging out with. My son.
  23. I used to get them when i first started tourney fishing but not to a point to make me sick. Maybe caused me to lose some sleep the night before the tourney though. Now fishing a tourney is about like going fishing any other time. Just go and try to enjoy being on the lake.
  24. i am sorry about your friend and my condolences to his family as well. i agree with stevefin if someone reading this post starts being more safer by wearing a life jacket and using a kill switch then his death will not be in vain. I am quilty of not wearing mine as much as i need to and i should make it a point to wear it more.
