  1. I don't have a fish scale. But he was about 14 inches long. I made 2 others, I need to take a pic of. It's pretty cool using your own. I guess it's more of an accomplishment when I land a fish on it. The other two are a bit more complicated. I went for a baby bass look and a baby bluegill. I will post later.
  2. So I painted a few of the popper jr's i got from predatorbassbait. They swim great, they make all kinds of ruckus in the water! So I went the cheap route. Acrylic Paint and Nail Polish. I couldnt bring myself to buy an airbrush and compressor. So I started with the acrylic and a polyurithane sealer for outdoor. After putting the lure in my sink and rubbing it with my finger the sealant came off and my paint did as well. So I went to walgreens and bought a top coat gloss. Yes it's slightly uncomfortable buying nail polish but whatever. It works! I painted with acrylic, then put 2 layers of top coat gloss. Sealed it right up. Used them today in the lake and they worked great. All in all, I spent about 15 on the lures, hooks, split rings, eyes and about 20 on paint, top coat and some brushes. I have enough paint to last me a bit and nail gloss as well.
  3. Lake Osborne seems to be a pretty good spot for Largemouth. I caught one, and had 2 others come up on my baits but missed. The first was in Lily pads, the bass came up and tried to grab my worm but missed it. I left it there and jerked it some more but he didnt want to go for a second attempt no matter how many times i cast it to the same spot. Then I had one come up on my home made top water popper. Just as I jerked the popper it came up and missed. I let it sit there and it didnt try again.
  4. From the album: Freshwater Fishing 2013-14

Check out that water. I knew there was going to be a fish under that layer of grass and top water muck! I couldn't get my weighted worm to go through the layer of grass so I cast it out and slowly brought the worm under the muck and there he was.
  5. I gave one of them to a buddy of mine who loves fishing and fishes lures even in saltwater. He tested it out today @ Lake Osborne with me and he said the action on it is great. So I feel more comfortable with my initial analysis. In fact he went and bought a bunch as soon as he got home lol.
  6. I must be doing something wrong. I went to 8 street canal by FIU and didn't catch anything. I tried a top water frog, 2 different worms (one dark one light) and a crankbait. I could see fish hit the top of the water to feed on minnows. Saw a manatee in there too lol. That thing was GIANT!
  7. Alright so my review on them lures! Got out there today and gave em a try. All 3 had great action. Slowly reeling in the lures moved very well. Cranking the lures was excellent as well. You could feel the vibration as the bait moved. The treble hooks aren't great. I got hung up one of the three sides broke off. I got 2 tugs on it, missed both fish, didn't set the hooks and the lures were spit out. The hooks are sharp so I have to blame that on me. Overall If I have to buy some good Mustad hooks to replace them it is still well worth the investment. I think these lures are going to help me catch some fish pretty soon!
  8. I was hoping to get out there today and give them a try but its been raining all day.
  9. Fail... So I got my paint and started painting 2 of my lures. They were looking real nice. Not airbrush nice but still nice. Then I put some glitter glue on them and I think I didn't let it dry enough. When I put my gloss sealer coat and left it for an hour to dry I came back to one of them and rubbed it a little and the sealer peeled right off alone with some of my paint. Live and learn. More drying next time, and possibly a different sealer. Perhaps I will try a topcoat nail polish.
  10. I woke up an hour early, opened my front door, went back inside and went back to sleep. LOL. Got up an hour later and went to work. Didn't make it out but I did pass by the place near work that looked perfect for bass fishing, and of course the department of transportation of all government entities has signs all over saying No Trespassing.
  11. Hmmm, fishing before work, that sounds good. My job is right next to a canal, I just need to cross the street and fish. I think I might give that a go... Or heck I might even try for lunch. I'm sure my coworkers will think I'm a crazy person but whatever! LOL
  12. Got my popper jr's from predatorbassbaits so hopefully tomorrow my acrylics and brushes arrive. I'm excited about getting these painted and even if they don't look as nice as the real deal expensive lures, I can at least say I painted them. If I catch fish with them, I can say I painted them and they work lol.
  13. From the album: Hand Painted Lures

Got my popper jr's for practice painting from predatorbassbaits. I want to check out their action and then start painting.
  14. Ok so I got the first batch of 3 lures from wlure. They look pretty decent, the hooks also look ok. For a dollar I cant complain about the look of the lure. I will give a real review once I try them out to see how the action is on them. They are fairly see through, and I can see they have 4 rattles inside which is great cause they make a ton of noise.
  15. Back at work so my weekday fishing is going to slow down drastically. Heck MCS if you can go, then go for it! You never know they might be hungry. Throw some worms at em lol.
  16. Oh i was thinking Fresh water. Largemouth. I'm new to freshwater fishing. I've done plenty of saltwater so I'm pretty good in that department.
  17. Well I went out today at 2pm right after a rainshower. Sun came out and I said, time to go fishin'. Well I went down to the canal on 157 ave and about 144st which is like country walk or something. Didn't see any fish, and didnt get any bites. Tried a worm, toad, and a spinner. Then went to the canal behind the falls mall. I actually saw fish there. Several panfish (guy next to me with a kid catching them) and I saw some big ol carp but I didn't see any bass. I tried there till just after dark. Finally got a few bites on a worm but I don't think they were big enough to eat the entire thing, they basically ripped my worms in half. Oh well, lol gotta keep trying!
  18. Jonny whats a good bait to use for night fishing?
  19. Congrats on the boat, it's real nice! Also thanks for starting this topic, it should be fun posting our stuff on here. Like Lou I was unable to go out yesterday due to rain all day. I'm hoping today will stay decent so I can try and catch some decent fish!
