  1. Not bass related but figured I would post in case anyone wants to do some trout or snook fishing. Went to Flamingo National Park all they way to the end of the road where the campgrounds are and caught a nice Snook with my handpainted popper jr. Caught another snook with a shallow bomber but I lost that when he jumped. Caught a 15 inch trout on that same bomber @ West Lake in Flamingo NP. Fish were jumping all over the place but most of them were out of my reach, if only I had a boat lol.
  2. Caught him on my hand painted top water popper jr.

  5. There is a joke there... but I'm going to leave it alone.
  6. Wow I just read the first page where Joe posted that long tutorial! That was great. I know its several years after it was written but I am glad I checked this topic. I just bought some jigs with different color skirts and had no idea how to use them properly. Great info on this topic!
  7. Those Gheenoe seem pretty darn cool. They seem to be stable and you can put a motor on them. I don't know from experience but the videos I've seen on them and everything, that is what I am leaning towards. Lightweight at about 120 without motor, you can get a 13, or 15 footer, its stable, you can customize the heck out of em and brand new they go for 1000 for the 13 footer. On Craigslist they are cheaper. Look into them that might be a good middle ground between a yak and a jon. What do you all think?
  8. I've got a blue amex. I get points for every purchase. You can use them on amazon, or you can get gift cards from different places. Works pretty good for me, I buy from Amazon quite a bit.
  9. Healthy looking fish Boston! Eh I wanted to get out there and try today after work but its my sisters bday... poo. Tomorrow I am going out and catching some bass though. Those fish better watch out!
  10. I for one am not opposed to driving to get to fish lol.
  11. Yup we are spoiled and so are the bass lol. I tried tropical park again today with lizards and nothing. I was jerking it at a snails pace. Maybe next time!
  12. I went to walmart and found a Luck E Stike Lizard Kit with 27 lizards (4 colors), and a few worm hooks for 5 bucks. I caught 3 bass with a slow jerk. 2 on a rootbeer color and 1 on a green pumpkin with a bright green tail. Texas Rigged to get me through the heavy cover. With a nice bullet weight I was launching that thing a good distance.
  13. I did not pay extra. I was actually surprised because I made an order 1 day and then another the next day. The first order came rather quickly within a 10 days. The second batch took longer and just arrived yesterday. I wasn't in a hurry so even at 30 days I rather pay 1 or 2 dollars for a lure that at some point I may lose than pay 5-10 on a lure. Kind of on a budget right now. Eventually when I can I'll go get me some brand named stuff just to have it. But for now these will do the job.
  14. I am dying to go to the everglades and do some real bass fishing lol. I wish I had a boat!
  15. Haha yeah, the thing is I didn't have the right bait and gear to get into the lily pads on the north side of the north lake. I knew there were going to be fish in there. I just needed to go weedless and the tackle I had the first time I went there was top water cranks. I came prepared this time with soft plastics, worm hooks and bullet weights. I'm new to the freshwater scene so I didn't even know there were special hooks for worms, or heck how to even set up the worm properly. Watched some videos and now I know how to set up a texas rig. The other difference is before I was using a 40 lb mono leader I had bought for saltwater fishing. Now I've gone to 20lb floro. I'm sure those bass were seeing my 40lb mono and just laughing at me. I'm really getting into fishing and it's quickly becoming an addiction, which is a good thing!
  16. I hit tropical park at 10 am and about 3 casts in I caught my first one. Caught them all with lizards, I switched to worm at one point and nothing was happening so I switched back and caught the other 2 with rootbeer colored lizard. 3 total, they weren't huge but they put up a mean fight in the lily pads.
