  1. Sometimes when the wind gets really bad I just use my kayak as means of transportation between good banks to fish, then hop out and wade or walk the stretch I want to fish.
  2. ^^^^Why I stick to spinning rods when fishing braid $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
  3. My brothers and I got into a striper boil in our kayaks last summer just below stubbs bridge. What an experience! Shad getting knocked 2-3' into the air and water spraying everywhere. Best part is that we were alone in a cove with no other boats around to spook the school. If you have the opportunity to target stripers while staying at Anna, don't hesitate!
  4. Yeah haha I don't know how I didn't catch that
  5. You can lip them, just don't hold their body horizontal like that, it puts a lot of pressure on their jaw. Keep them as horizontal vertical as possible. Not a big deal with little guys since their isn't much weight there but once they get over probably 2 pounds I try to take extra care and make sure they don't get hurt.
  6. Trout Magnet Charlie Brewer Slider Grub 2" straight tailed minnow colored plastic of some sort
  7. Nice fish, but in the future don't hold them like that, it can kill the fish.
  8. Reminds me of a legendary bait on swimbait underground.
  9. The 4" gulp swimming mullet on a jighead is my go-to for trout, flounder, and reds. I will definitely have a tub of them with me. Never caught much on the shrimp but if the "little fish" are abundant and chewing off the curly tails, I may have to use the shrimp.
  10. If I had a way to fish stick marsh I might try it, but it wouldn't be with a guide. Just not my cup of tea. Mainly planning on saltwater fishing, that's why this is in the other species forum.
  11. I will be staying in Vero Beach next week with friends and family. I have never fished Florida so I will be doing a lot of learning I assume. Does anyone have spots to reccomend, techniques to try, and any tips in general? I plan on saltwater fishing for the most part so any bass fishing wil probably be in ponds if I stumble upon a couple, or canals if there are any in the area to fish. I think I will have access to a very strange converted sailboat of sorts that is now motor boat with a very small motor on it, this would be in the Indian River. Thanks guys
  12. I saw one recently with a skirt on the back treble. As in full sized jig/spinnerbait skirt
  13. KVD 1.5, in a powerplant lake in January .....First cold water was probably on a blade
  14. Buck bass are a breeze to catch on beds, but if you want to catch a decent fish, better fish pre spawn
  15. I'm located a solid 3 hour drive from any salt water and we have sea lampreys and eels migrate up into trout streams in the mountains here. They travel farther than you would think.
  16. There is some sort of treated sewage discharge not too far below downtown Richmond on the James that I would give a try during the colder months. Warm water.
  17. I consider cold around here to below 50. But I'm open to hearing anything, this post is mainly out of curiosity because we are almost out of the cold water period unless a cold front comes rolling through
  18. Zoom ultravibe speed craw as a trailer on a 5/16oz baby boo jig. Kvd 1.5 in any Shad color T-rigged trick worm
  19. I will go down to 6# for bass, but I have caught plenty of decent fish on 4# while crappie fishing. Caught two smallies on back to back casts 18" and 19" on an ultralight with 4lb test two springs ago. I use 2# almost exclusively for trout, if you are patient and use a net it's not that hard to land fish on 2 if you follow them and keep them away from cover and rocks. My friend had a rod spooled with 1lb test that was a blast to use on small trout. He also had some .5lb test leader, we tried to use it but it was too small to tie knots with, even my "young eyes" couldn't see it! I think it was called frogs hair.
  20. Like the people who just start cranking to close the bail on their spinning reel......(fishing equivalent of fingernails on a chalkboard when the reel goes POP!)
  21. Sounds like a spot that you tell your buddy "hey, watch this" before you toss to it. Some spots just always hold fish. Prime real estate.
