  1. I have a Lowrance X-4 Pro for my kayak. Works well for me and I think it was around $100
  2. And if you put some 6lb braid on it and fish fluoro leaders, it's a great drop shot setup.
  3. Any shimano 1000 reel, 6'6" field and stream Tec Lite Light or Ultra Light action, 2lb mono or 4-6lb fluoro
  4. Time on the water > Anything else Just stay after it
  5. Well today was my first experience with walleyes... They act pretty paralyzed when you get them in the boat, but when they thrash it is no joke.......Got the hook out, put it back on the shadrap, and continued catching. Needless to say I will be a little more cautious with trebles from now on.
  6. I heard that one of the striper guides on Smith Mountain Lake slams a broomstick on the side of his boat because "Only the little ones get spooked by it"
  7. Excellent photos. Someone really knows how to hold a fish for the camera, it helps that they are all tanks and gorgeous fish! And even Mr. Drum got a glamour shot.
  8. Pretty fish AJ, I like the storage setup you have for all of those rods!
  9. Skinny Girl. 20" 3.3lbs. 8" Rage Recon Worm
  10. I stuck a big sycamore with mine I think. Couldn't bring her up from the depths.
  11. Find a beaver hut. Big shiners like beaver huts
  12. 19" 2.6lbs swim jig 17" 2.3lbs T-rig U-Tail worm BBZ dink action
  13. Catching your own is the way to go if you can. Fresh cut shad is deadly on cats, and it's not nearly as gross as chicken liver or stinkbait. You will never see me go anywhere near chicken liver or stinkbait.
  14. Remember to rig your livers on an arkie head
  15. I read an article about some guys who target "grander" marlin (I think it was in Australia) that would rig spanish mackerel (basically like our king mackerel) and wahoo up to 50lbs as a "skipping bait" to troll. Big fish eat big food!
  16. Just try to throw something at least a little different than the guy in the front of the boat. I fished a fun tournament as a co angler, my boater was throwing a spinnerbait with willow blades and I was throwing one with Indiana blades, same color, same retrieve, same weight, same brand. I caught a lot more fish than he did, but since it was a team event (5 fish between the two of us) he stuck to the willow blade spinnerbait since he said it would be useless to be presenting two identical lures. "If there's a 5 pounder that wants willow blades, we will get him, and if theres one that wants indiana blades, we will get him too"
  17. Analyze it however you want, a ounce (or more) of #6 bird shot at close range is terrifying and I would have no problem using it as a home defense round.
  18. They can't all be big ones
  19. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Sullivan In all seriousness though, lightning is no joke and no one should ever push their limits with it. The odds may be slim, but those odds are more than enough for me to get the heck out of there during a storm. Recently witnessed a house get struck and burn down, I was standing over 100 yards away and could still feel the heat. Scary stuff.
  20. Got some grass on the bait.....Nope
  21. The first and second may be hybrids, green sunfish are known to get frisky with members of another species. I catch lots of green sunfish x (another type of sunfish) hybrids. #3 definitely a green sunfish #4 definitely a flier #5 definitely a largemouth
  22. They like little pieces of worms. Better use a #16 or #18 hook. Get some 6 or 7x tippet for your leader I hate to admit it, but I'm speaking from experience
