  1. I'm 6'1" but I'm built a bit like a post spawn buck bass
  2. I don't actually know if this is a "big" musky since I'm not familiar with them, but it is definitely the biggest I have landed. Measured the fish on my rod and I will update with a length when I buy a tape. One more will make 10 muskies for me so far! I caught her on a 9" ABT suicide glide, I was walking it like a spook and she crushed it! I caught another on it afterwords and it went completely airborne with the bait in its mouth. EDIT: The fish, measured beside my rod, was 43".
  3. A tournament is the only thing that can make a lake with that size of fish fun (for me at least!) I can go catch 5 keepers in a tournament and be happy, but if I go out fun fishing and only catch a handful of 12-15" bass I usually wish I had gone elsewhere!
  4. Let me just transfer to a college in Tennessee real quick
  5. This summer I ended up somewhat accidentally fishing a tournament on a 53 acre lake with 16 boats. The "lake" has a 12-16" protected slot limit. One fish was weighed over the slot, and that boat won the tournament. I was in a 3 way tie for second with five fish for 3lbs 2oz. Not all fish in the south are big
  6. Super Spook Jr or a Pointer 78
  7. If I met you in person it would take me a while to come to terms with the fact that you aren't Al Bundy
  8. Couldn't even hit the satellite button?
  9. Possessing the ability to adapt
  10. You can also have the trailer hook facing down if they are really being finicky. I've done it.
  11. http://www.bassmaster.com/tips/kennedys-favorite-late-summer-pattern This is worth a read.....They don't always go deep when it's hot
  12. That first photo is really cool, looks like it could be an album cover or something
  13. I don't usually shake when I catch a good one, but if I'm in a tournament, or if the fish is a true giant (see avatar), I shake like a leaf. My most recent experience with the jitters was when I caught a fish over 5lbs, on a drop shot, with 8lb test leader, on Kentucky Lake, on the final day of the high school national championship. She ran around a stickup and I had to chase her down and unwrap her, then she jumped 4 times after that. When I held the fish, I turned and said to my partner "We might have a shot at this thing". Nothing better!
  14. It's lovely when you don't even have to look at a spinning rod
  15. Yes you did! I'm not sure what the rules are as far as what the camera boats can film, but we were in the same cove as the Colorado team who won, and the camera guys would never look at us, even when we were catching fish, good ones. I figured they would like to film that type of stuff, as you could have cut the tension with a knife in that cove for about an hour
  16. I bet that money would be a drop in the bucket to many of the crews that will fish the event.
  17. My buddy did that on a senko one time, fish tried to eat the bait out of the others mouth! Good job
  18. Trailer hook
  19. One thing that hasn't been mentioned already.... Sometimes it's better to take your time fighting them so that they are tired by the time you get them to the boat, less chance of a "violent" jump.
  20. I caught an a-rig that I still use, and a lews reel that I still use
  21. I fished a few weekday evening tournaments, and there was one boat that would always come waaaaaay across the lake to cut my partner and I off when we were fishing. This didn't start until we finished 2nd place in one of the tournaments. Guys think they are playing defense or something. One time he cut us off and we just kept fishing behind them and I was SMOKING them on a frog, he got all upset and told us we were too close. I don't fish those tournaments anymore, it's silly.
  22. Thanks Sam! It was a fun but tough event. Every team in the state brought their best 6 anglers, and each team had 3 boats that all would weigh 5 fish for a combined total weight. My partner and I brought in the only limit of the event, and it was 5 fish for a measly 8 pounds. That fish combined with the other 4 that the other two boats on our team brought in, gave us the lead with 9 bass for 15 pounds I believe. It was a good way to wrap up my high school fishing "career".
