  1. For the second day in a row I arrived at a full boat ramp to find a tournament taking place which meant TUFF fishing, plenty of boat wakes, and a good bit of pressure. We found a couple pretty brown ones though!
  2. Baby D Bomb on 12lb fluoro somehow landed this 41"er that took me through a root wad and was jumping on the other side!
  3. There are a few times when I do this from my kayak for ducks! One time I put a rod out with a bobber for bluegill beside my goose decoys, made for a pretty funny morning.
  4. Ol' musky got after her huh?
  5. I believe you sliced into the gall bladder. It is easy to do, they are very fragile.
  6. I would be lying if I said my degree isn't my "safety net" plan
  7. Give me 55-48 degrees and something with 5 arms and some blades
  8. I have a tournament on the Mon this upcoming weekend, and my friend who has been practicing a TON for months is making a run to Pittsburg that will give him 2 hours to fish because of locking (Think there are 4 in between). That should tell you a little something about the fishing on the Mon around here
  9. Fall has definitely made its arrival... Look at the build on these fish! FYI these 3 would weigh 10-11lbs together
  10. If I see the fish before I cast, I absolutely have a better hook up percentage, I have plenty of time to think about it and get the timing right. The PROBLEM is when one comes rocketing out of no where and smashes the bait when you least expect it. At that point you might as well be smashing my knee with a hammer!
  11. My tournament partner and I fished a tournament on Stonewall Jackson Lake (WV) on Sunday and we won it with 16lbs. We had never been on the lake before, and spent more time on the trolling motor than anything else, putting together a pattern as we went! Most of the fish came on a whopper plopper 130 and a strike king 1.5 and 2.5. Felt good to whoop up on some locals who didn't expect much from the college kids in the aluminum boat
  12. I finally got one. My friend and I were fishing on the Mon River here in Morgantown this evening, messing around catching little bass on ned rigs, and when I flipped one in the boat I noticed he looked like a smallmouth but had a funny body shape. Got to looking and found a tooth patch! If that's not enough for someone, I texted the fisheries professor and he told me to freeze a fin clipping so we can get genetic testing done on the little guy (after hanging out in the livewell)
  13. Starting last year, the family beach vacation is 14 days, and I fish hard every day. My brothers and I are zombies by the end of it but we keep going. Regardless of weather, fishing conditions, or anything, I don't think I ever fish less than 3 days a week. Usually 5 or more.
  14. I have had this happen WAYYYY more often than I would like to admit. They definitely like to come study you.
  15. First and only sailfish landed in our boat so far
  16. The mods could really draw some activity to the site if they advertised about him
  17. With about an hour of daylight left, I got the extreme urge to fish, so I loaded up my kayak and hurried to the river. Only caught one fish, but it happened to be musky number 27 for me! She followed a war eagle spinnerbait to my kayak and I missed her on the figure 8, but dunked the rod back under and she ate it as soon as I started figure 8ing again! Super cool in clean water, I have always wanted to land one on the figure 8 in a kayak!
  18. I just posted a snapchat of a musky showing my exact location which is pretty much on campus and it will be seen by over 150 people
  19. 40 boats on 730 acres is a ton of pressure thrown in on top of regular weekend pressure. Go to lake #1!!
  20. Visited a couple more friends this Sunday in Virginia before I came back to WVU. One of which was a minority not often seen in Virginia.
  21. That's a whole lot of pressure for what you have described! If I wanted to catch those fish, I would go early or late and fish a topwater. If he has been using tubes and senkos, use something big and bulky/noisy as they won't be used to it. With that much pressure, fish, especially big ones, wise-up quickly.
  22. Oooooooh Atlantic/Landlock
  23. That's awesome, I have done that with crickets
  24. I too agree that rivers are better mid day than early in the summer. I don't think it has anything to do with temperature. Early in the mornings, fish will be roaming everywhere since it is low light and rivers offer a lot of habitat for a bass to be comfortable in. Later in the day, when the sun gets up, fish will head towards the banks where trees create shade as well as into/around cover, making them easier to locate.
