  1. Daiwa knocked this one out of the Park. I'm just like the rest of the fishermen here and have so many reels to fish that it is crazy and the one reel I am reaching for time and time again is my Tatula Type-R. I LOVE that reel..
  2. Yes, I am aware of this, thanks. The truth is still that they fish way different than the other reels listed IMO. I Hate quantum because of the design and acs braking, they never seem to cast the same way twice. The duckett reels were ok but I don't know they didn't click with me. I liked everything about the *** *** and I enjoy Lew's reels very much. Having Said that I will stay a Daiwa Man.
  3. Powell Max Mag Bass casting 8'0" mag Heavy Punching/Flipping rod or Duckett White Ice Terry Scroggins Casting Rod 7'8" XX-Heavy Punching/flipping Rod with a TWS Daiwa Zillion. $500 at base price or you could shop around and buy either combo for around $380
  4. That White Ice rod you are fishing is a monster of a rod. It is made to throw 4 Oz or more baits so it is a little unfair to compare it to a 7'3 rod that is rated for most likely 3/16-3/4oz baits. BIG Difference.
  5. You can buy the Micro magic rods on clearance right now for $98.00 and I've bought Tatula Type-R reels for as low as $112 so If it was me I would try to talk the guy down to a flat $200 and jump on it then. They are both really great and it is one VERY fine combo, I have a bunch of that combo and I have not found any that I like better. Your father will LOVE it. Very nice of you to treat your father to such a nice gift. In the end you can buy it New for that same price but if it is in good shape I would just get it and not go through the hassle of ordering it all.
  6. *** are good rods also there is a sale right now on Quantum Smoke rods at $89.00 Those are very good rods for that price imo. If you can get a tatula for $100 it is a great rod. Duckett ghost rods are also pretty good.
  7. You need to pick up a Duckett White Ice rod. it is very close to the old Carrot Stix 21 gold rods except it is MUCH stronger and more sensitive. If you liked the Carrot stix you will love those rod's.
  8. Yes, it is worth the $45 bucks. I would buy it. EDIT....For $45 buy it and if you do not like it I will buy it from you (For the $45 and your paid tax) and pay to have it shipped to me. I feel pretty good that you will love it. You're talking about a reel with a free floating spool and mag force braking with a flipping switch, aluminum frame and brass gears for $45 bucks? Yes, sign me up, see if they have a couple more that I can get lol EDIT again....it is a little on the heavy side though it weights 9.2 Oz.
  9. I have never fished a Rage rod before, so I don't know anything about them. I can tell you that the Duckett Ghost rod will fish WAY better than it feels in the store. When I bought my first Ghost rod's I bought the 7'6 X-hvy and the 6'10 Medium Ghost. I am a pretty big Duckett fan (Rod's only don't like the reels) and I just didn't like the way the Ghost felt. Well the next day we are off to the lake and by the end of the day I was VERY happy with the two Ghost rod's. I bought mine for $75 (7'6) and $65 (6'10) from a local store that was going out of business. I thought they were a very good purchase. If you like the Micro Magic you will also like the Ghost but if you do not like the Micro magic, well you will not like the Ghost either.
  10. LoL No, Really I just spit coke all over my screen
  11. I am exactly the same. I throw a chatterbait and when it gets to be to much grass for that I'm throwing a swimJig. I have not tied on a spinnerbaits in years.
  12. Over the years I have bought a LARGE amount of baitcasters for very good prices from Ebay. I have never had any trouble with any of them at all. The only thing I have had trouble with was when I bought an 8 camera security system off of Ebay that was listed as brand new with a DVR system and a 1Gig hard drive. When I received the Security system it was used and the night vision on the cameras did not work and the DVR only had a 250 Gig Hard drive. I only pay using Pay-Pal and after trying to return the item to the dealer with no luck I was refunded the entire amount of my purchase ($499.99) through Pay-Pal, they handled it very well.
  13. I fish my jerk baits on a 6'10" Medium/fast rod.
  14. You would be hard pressed to find a bigger Duckett fan than me. I Flat out LOVE the White Ice Rods and I'm really enjoying the new Terex rods too. Now having said that I bought a Duckett 360 reel because well, I'm a Duckett fan. The reel is simple and it is a nice reel, it is smooth and the drag seems to be ok, (I still think the Tatula drag is smoother) having said that I doubt I will be buying any more Duckett reels. They just do not stand out as anything special to me and they feel kind of like a mix between a Quantum and a Abu reel. I am just not a big fan of the reel. I do not think the reel holds a candle to my Daiwa tatula Type-R reels which I love. Now I am not telling you that the duckett reels are bad because they are not a bad reel but for the price and what you are getting I would buy a Daiwa or Shimano over the Duckett reel all day long. I'm just not impressed by the Duckett reels, now the Duckett rods are fan-freaking-tastic.
  15. Hard to say, it is a fantastic catch. I would range it in the 4.5 to 5.5 range but like every one has said it is tough to guess. If she had a spawning belly she may well have hit 6.
  16. Very Nice is their any where I can get some info on this. I would LOVE to meet some of the guys from here.
  17. Mono: Suffix Siege Fluoro: SeaGuar InvisiX
  18. I'm just wondering, was the fluorocarbon you tried the Vicious brand? That stuff is like throwing bailing wire.
  19. I am using a 7'1" Medium Heavy Duckett White Ice with a Daiwa tatula and 15# Fluorocarbon. I fish Toledo Bend a LOT and this set up works great.
  20. 7'1" MH/F I like Duckett White Ice 6.3.1 Baitcaster I like the Daiwa Tatula Type-R
  21. Through out the years I've fished so many different reels. I just do not think you can go wrong with Daiwa, Shimano or Lew's reels though. You should just see which one fits your hands and the one that you like the looks of and just go with that one. My favorite reels right now are made by Daiwa but I have many made by Shimano and a ton made by Lew's and I really like them also. None of them are bad reel's. The only baitcaster I can think of that I do not like is Quantum. I'm not going to tell you that Quantum's are bad, I'm just going to say I will not fish with them. Stick with Daiwa, Shimano or Lew's and you can't go wrong.
  22. Duckett Ghost cranking rod is great for $99.00
  23. I use a 7'3" Heavy and find this to be great for frogs. It is short enough to work the frog and long enough to help with a solid hook set.
  24. I fish a Senko the majority of my fishing time, I flip, pitch and even punch with Senko's and it is one of the best punching baits I've ever used but for just throwing a Senko weightless T-rigged I've finally, after many years, found what is in my mind the perfect Senko Rod. I am Senko fishing with a Duckett White Ice 7'1" Medium Heavy rod and Daiwa Tatula type-r reel with 15# Seaguar Fluorocarbon. This rod is fan-freaking-tastic for Senko's. I like this rod even more than my Megabass Orochi XX for throwing Senko's.
