  1. Wow, that's a lot to think about. I think that another 2 pc will be my choice and for just the easy part of storage. I don't think that I can feel the diff. any more any way. Thanks for all of your thoughts.
  2. Rico's , back when they were the "one" to have.
  3. I have both but always lean towards a one pc. Does anyone know if any rod features are affected between the two? I'm looking for a new rod and will appreciate any comments. Doog
  4. I have used the MATZUO in the smaller sizes for years for drop shot and NEVER had a failure. I know that they hook up better than any other I've used and hold on better. I bought a bunch and still use the same ones so maybe there is a quality problem now that was not there back then. I use Eagle Claw almost on everything else but some habits stay for a long time.
  5. For those of us who use ZEBCO braided line I'm finding that walmart is not carrying it in store any more. The mono is there. I did find it on line and placed an order. Like any retail place they are going to stock what moves and gives them the proffit. I did notice several new brands of line. I like Omniflex and have used it for years. I'm a snob in my own ways but like finding good stuff at better prices and will tell anyone what I am using and show them my catch with a genuine smile. Just an update, have a kickedback day.
  6. All my decals go on my frig in my shop. they help insulate and keep my PBR even colder. send me any you got!
  7. DITTO on the Diehard. I too have a Seaeagle 285FPB and use a 30 motorguide. I find the power good unless you fight a hard head wind. The Diehard allows me to never think about how much is left.
  8. A little late but my take just the same...I have used Silver Thread for as many years as I can remember. I don't think I will ever switch, it's that good. Compare dia. to strength and it beats many others. I buy bulk spools and save a lot. 6, 10 and 17 lb are the ones. Good stuff
  9. Has anyone tried the new gx2 by ugly stik? Thinking of the ML 7' or longer for a wormin rod. All kidding aside they make a good rod for certain apps. and these sound like an option.
  10. nice to meet you too Wayne P. I have NEVER seen either of the 2 items you presented. I do think item 2 is close to my unit, but no cigar! A major exception is cost...mine you can make on your own for little money. I know mine is simple in design and easy to make at home with out a machine shop full of tools. I simply needed something to steer my inflatable and here is how I did it. If it helps out anybody then I'm good. if not then it will be added to all the other things in life we see more than 1 of every day of our lives. Lord help us if some one designs another new boat or fishing rod. How about all the different ideas that are flying about for kayak fishing. I'm sorry if I moved in on your honey hole, it's my first time at this lake.
  11. I will do it again but I will most likely get kicked off, oh well.
  12. Sorry with the bad pics or lack of. I see that a restriction in total KB's is 150...I cant make my pics small enough or I just don't understand how this works!!?? If you can assist then I'm all in. Thanks.
  13. Yes. this is set up for my Sea Eagle 285 fpb but with some imagination who knows what else it would work on. Here you go...1 pc 3/4"x3/4" box tubing(length is up to you)1 u bolt(inside 1 1/8")this fits my Motorguide 1" shaft and the tubing compressed when mounted is a perfect fit. 2 eyebolts with the eye closed up on one to remove play when pushing or pulling. I have decided to close up the other eye to stop all play. 1 extension nut and 1 1/4" aluminum rod. I added threads to one end with a die. it is doable with lots of lube and backing up a lot. I used lock nuts entirely. The wood dowel added some length to the rod and a nicer grip(the green tubing is a side vision aid !)it go's with out saying the IDEA is here the rest is up to you. It works super easy and my trolling motor has a tension screw that allows the steering to be any way you like it. I can face forward and not be turning side ways all day long. I added a foot switch to have power on/off control so all that is needed is to set the speed. Hope this helps someone else. Any questions at all is O.K. with me.
  14. I am trying to get the pics uploaded but it will take me some time. Hang in there.
  15. I am new to this site and don't know if posting pics is o.k. or how to do it... I have a working model of a very simple steering for my trolling motor for my 285fpb. I made it in a couple hours and all the parts are at Lowes. It's all aluminum. I still can't believe I did it. It works great and is simple to mount. If any one is interested in more info, let me know and if I can learn how to post pics too!
