  1. Just started using hard baits this year and i still have a lot to learn. Question is i fish a free flowing river that averges 3-4 feet. Should i go with a floating or suspending hard jerk bait????
  2. Looking to purchase a rain suit, like everyone these days I'm trying to get the best bang for my buck. Any suggestions??
  3. Planning on throwing hard baits this season and want to purchase my FIRST bait caster. What is a good first time rod/reel combo for a man on a budget. I want to become somewhat effieient with one before i splurge and upgrade. Also length, power, and action advise is appreciated. Throwing square bill cranks, spinner and buzz baits. Thanks for everyones time
  4. sorry to butt in, on the KVD series do you guys prefer the rattling cranks or the silent stalker?
  5. I do all my fishing on the Upper Potomac river and on occasion the Susquehanna river. Both rivers usually run between 3-5 feet deep. I fish no lakes. Since starting fishing a few yrs ago I have used only soft plastic baits and had decent success. Is it worth trying hard baits in such shallow water or is this a waste of time and money? If it is worth trying, im open to suggestions on what to try as I have no idea where to start. Thanks for your time
  6. Also, I want my braid and my flouro leader to be almost the same diameter. Correct???????
  7. Thanks to everyone for all the replies. After pondering on it all day I think im going to try braid with a flouro leader. I read some nice things about the Power Pro Super Slick braid. Does anyone have a pros or cons about this particular brand. Also what lb. test should I go with(Medium weight spinning gear) Most fish are average in size, nothing too huge. Do you guys feel that the 10 lb. test will be enough?
  8. Quick background, I fish the Upper Potomac river in Maryland. I fish mainly with soft plastics, either Texas rigged or a drop shot rig. Also fish shakey head worms. All fishing done on medium weight spinning gear. I always fished with monofilament but lately have considered switching to fluorocarbon. The more I read I hear more and more folks using braid with a fluorocarbon leader, and it sounds rather convincing. Is this gonna be the right set-up for me???????
  9. Im looking to add a few more bullets to my gun on the river this year. I have never tried any form of shaky head fishing, my question is what brand of shaky head jig and what worm to accompany it is best when just getting started. I would also like some suggestions on what weight jig is perferred. I live in Maryland and fish mainly on the upper Potomac River. This river averages about 3-4 feet in the spring and early summer and drops to around 2 feet during the late summer months. The river had a moderate flow as i would not call it calm or swift movement. The river bed is pretty rocky and has alot of brush. Also heavy grass during the late summer. There are so many options (round head, football, blah, blah, blah) I dont even know where to start. As always, all help is greatly appreciated.
  10. I should have added that i have heard/read alot of good things about Seaguar line. I was researching the invizx, but every review went back and forth between poor to excellent. Do you guys feel that the Tatsu is better?
  11. Im in the market for some new fluorocarbon fishing line. Looking for 4# test for a UL spinning setup. The question is....... Whats the best line to buy? (Make/Model) I tried doing some online research and there are way too many mixed feelings to get a good answer. This is my first time posting but i follow the forum daily and figured i would come ask the experts. Any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks.
