  1. Looks like I'm heading to Rosemary Beach, FL in July and was wondering if anybody had any tips on Lake Powell. I'm not familiar with dune lakes and see that it has a mixture of fresh and saltwater fish. What techniques, lure types do you recommend and how about rod/ reel? Would an Alphas SV be okay for these waters? Any of info will be greatly appreciated!
  2. No offense to anybody here, but you'll most likely get a quicker response on tackle tour.
  3. Jackall says the msrp will be $39.99 and the different line ties are actually for weights so you can adjust the float/ sink rate. Slowly trying to get in to swimbaits. Will definitely get one of these.
  4. MB is the definition of functional fishing art.
  5. Should be titled: How can't you fish a Roboworm!?
  6. Splurge a little. You'll thank yourself in the future. Tatula.
  7. More specifically which colors are best suited for the time of year? I know water clarity will be a big factor, but I'm sure the stages of a crass coloring will also come into play.
  8. Zoom Megabass because of there innovative designs and colors. My PB was off of the Bumpee Worm.
  9. It's probably not even a year old
  10. What's wrong with a Steez?
  11. I've never opened a reel, but I have done maintenance and upgrades on similar products and that definitely sounds like a gear problem. Could be something as simple as a gear is out of place or something like the teeth have been broken and/ or worn down. I have a Tatula as well and absolutely love it. Excellent reel for the price and will be purchasing another one.
  12. I purchased two boxes of XPS this past Spring Classic in 10 and 14# and have been very surprised/ pleased with it. The white boxes. Both are being used on my baitcasters and any overruns I've had have been purely user error. Abrasion resistance is pretty good, memory is low (just enough to make tying knots easier), and of course, the knot strength has been good. I'll definitely be buying more.
  13. I've used chart. numerous times on the Zoom shakey head worm in Junebug. It doesn't make a huge difference, just a slight yellow tint, but the fish seem to like it
  14. Similar situation happened to me last summer. Managed to get my LC Sammy in an over hanging branch and for about 20 minutes I tried everything I could to pull it free or at least break the line. Was beyond fed up and gave it one last tug and broke to the tip on my G. Loomis. To make matters worse as soon as the rod broke the Sammy fell out of the branch and into the water just far enough away from me to retreive it. Oh yeah, no fish either.
  15. Buddy and I went today despite the weather this morning. Pretty glad we did as the sun finally came out and started warming things up. Caught three in the same area, average depth was 5ft in this area. All three were caught within an hour and hooked using a 6th Sense jerkbait in a sexy shad color. First one was a dink, second one was a minimum 5 pounder, and finally, to my surprise and first time ever, a pike that was roughly 24" long!
  16. Any tips for Lake Varner? More specifically, tips for there with the cold front that we just had come through?
  17. I need to get a little more active on here. As much as I love the Tackle Tour forums they are a little more about the tackle rather than the actual fishing. Lovin the fact that there have multiple mentions on Lanier on this site. I'm on the south end of Lanier, close to Aqualand, and always wanting to go fishing with new folks.
  18. for relatively inexpensive customer hardbaits check out Pizz Customs. He has swimbait models available, but will also paint your existing hardbaits.
  19. Towards the end of summer last year I fishing along the bank of a small lake and made my way down to a tree that had fallen in the water. After numerous casts with different baits I still didn't have any bites so I decided to make one final cast. Worst cast of my life. My lure went into the branches of a nearby tree so naturally I slow reeled in so as to not make it worse, but sure enough, that thing was in there. So after 10-15 of relentless tugging the tip of my GL2 snapped off and my line was still intact. It was at that point I finally just cut my line and guess what, my lure fell out of the branches and into the water. So as an attempt to save at least one thing that day I tied on larger lure with larger hooks and attempted to hook my now floating lure. After 20 minutes of that and words that a sailor has never heard I finally put up my white flag and went home....at least you had a bite.
  20. you pretty much nailed the top places. check out Japan Tackle as well
  21. if you do a little research you'll find some sites that offer nothing but tungsten weights and sell by weight rather than pieces per package.
  22. The Goonies
  23. Can't really give you much info there, but if you're willing to share the bank I just might be willing to join you.
  24. this new guy here. I'm in the Oakwood area and Lanier is practically in my backyard. I'm always on the lookout for a new fishing buddy.
  25. Been a long time "stalker" of the site so I finally bit the hook and decided to join. I've always enjoyed fishing, but didn't really get into bass fishing until my late teens. Since then I've been hooked and love the thrill of trying to find the fish and finally reeling one in. Though I have access to a boat and Lake Lanier I still find myself walking the banks of local ponds and small/ lakes as Lanier can be very a difficult lake to fish. I'm hoping to learn some new techniques as well as some ones from the people here and hopefully I'll be able to share some knowledge of my own.
