  1. i buy new lures, put fresh line on my reels, look on google maps for new spots, spy on birds (cool photos: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/129090-during-the-dead-winter-when-i-cant-fish/), scout out new ponds, buy new gear, dream about spring, watch videos of people fishing, post on this website...
  2. ... i spy on birds... i got this cool shot i thought i should share with you guys.
  3. The issue is i dont fish from a boat and i fish ponds , rarely lakes
  4. ...i'm just asking for other forum members on their opinion of their most reliable lure.
  5. Seems like most of you go with different forms of worms. The bass love em'
  6. Hey there, i was just wondering what everyone's favorite, most dependable lure is for bass fishing. One that works well when nothing else seems to work, or one that just gets many, and/or big, fish often. A lure that is reliable in pretty much every condition from thick fog, dirty water, clear water, deep holes, shallows, weeds, structure, you name it! Mine would have to be a Gary Yamamoto Senko pumpkin color worm texas rigged on a gamakatsu EWG worm 5/o hook. Share yours! I look forward to this discussion!!!
  7. 1. Use google earth to find spots such as small ponds or sumps.. These spots tend to be honey holes for largemouth. 2.Slow down a bit (for the winter) 3. Research the largemouth bass... here is great study http://www.umpquavalleybassmasters.com/bassbook.htm
  8. Thanks, all of you! This advice is very good! I am going to wait for the next warm front to roll in and then go fishing. Right now it has been snowing a bit and ~40 degrees
  9. thanks! sadly i was unable to head out this evening i had other complications and it did start to flurry outside :/
  10. Thank you all for the great advice. Im gonna head out soon and give these new methods a go. Ill report back later on. It is a bit colder than yesterday but the water hasnt iced over yet. Wish me luck!
  11. I've never actually drop shotted before. I have heard of it but i never learned what it is or how to do it? Please explain.
  12. Interesting... i'll definitely give that a go! Thanks
  13. I didn't take the temperature, but it isn't frozen. I don't know how the bass died, it was a small pond and maybe ran out of food or lacked oxygen. I might just have to wait it out until spring... the bass are barely eating it seems, their metabolism is obviously significantly lower than in warmer weather. I spent all day today fishing for bass with all types of lures and all types of spots with different types of structure but no bites.
  14. I've been reeling painstakingly slow, and i have been using a senko with 8 lb test. These bass just don't show up..... the air and water is just too cold..... i did find a dead 8 lber floating in one of the ponds however...goes to show how cold it is...
  15. Today i went to five different ponds in Long Island, New York and not a single bite. All of these ponds are known for fish just not in the winter... How can i get largemouth bass when it is so cold out? I've tried all the different suggested lures including jigs and senkos. Nothing has worked... the bass just have disappeared entirely... i haven't caught a largemouth for about 2 months and im beginning to feel the effects.....
  16. Caught on a gary yamamoto senko worm! huge fish, rare for long island.
