  1. Thats alright, this contest was for fun anyways its not like the 1st place gets a new boat lol Check out my latest post in my report thread. I made my final report as i am leaving florida tommorow http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/140639-welds-south-florida-fishing-trip-thread/page-3
  2. you better go tonight the contest ends tommorow at 11:00 pm
  3. I used a one of your jigs very similar to one in your photo and i pulled it through lots of weeds nicely but near the shoreline it got stuck up in a plant, however a 2lb largie came up and slammed it even though it had the plant on it!
  4. When I fish jigs here in florida I always get weeds that get on the line and get caught on the front of the jig. What can I do to prevent these weeds? I once heard that adding a small bead on your line can make the weeds slide right off. Help me out here, I'm gonna fish jigs tonight, as I'm going for my PB. Last night of fishing in Florida. Thanks a ton Welds
  5. It doesn't take long to measure and weigh, its an extra 20 or 15 seconds. The hook isnt hard to get out, doesnt take long unless you let the bass choke it in his throat
  6. I measure and weigh every bass over 12 inches. It's just my thing. I record them in excel and I have a big list and I can see patterns of what lure, conditions or time of year is most productive
  7. This thread has got the Bait Monkey knockin at my window! Good thing my wallet is locked up in my safe ;D
  8. I will make the first entry, this is how you should format it as well creature bait soft plastic (baby brush hog) : 2 fish, biggest = 2lb 14oz, 18.5 inches spinnerbait (booyah) : 4 fish, biggest - 4lb 3oz, 21.5 inches jerkbait (Strikeking KVD): 1 fish, biggest 0lb 15oz, 14 inches worm soft plastic (senko): 2 fish, biggest 3lb 12oz, 19 inches topwater frog (lunker hunt lunker frog): 1 fish, 1lb 8oz, 15 inches
  9. Today an amazing idea has sparked in my brain and it will be beneficial to all anglers, experienced and new. In this thread i will keep count of how many fish have been caught on each type of lure (spinnerbait, worm, topwater frog, etc.) I will post the lure categories below and the count next to them. Whenever you catch a fish on one of these types of lures post here how many fish you caught and what lure category. (no past fish please) If the fish is heavier than the current record fish for that lure catergory, please include the weight (lbs, oz) and length (inches) so i can update it as the record for that lure catergory If i am missing a category please quote me and let me know. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ spinnerbait 15 fish; Record : 4lbs, 3oz. 21.5 inches [Weld's Largemouth] worm soft plastic 6 fish; Record : 3lbs, 12oz. 19 inches [Weld's Largemouth] jerkbait 3 fish; Record : 2lbs, 12oz. 17 inches [uber] creature bait soft plastic 2 fish; Record : 2lbs, 14oz. 18.5 inches [Weld's Largemouth] topwater frog 1 fish; Record : 1lbs, 8oz. 15 inches [Weld's Largemouth] topwater popper 1 fish; Record : 0lbs, 0oz. 0 inches spinner 0; Record : 0lbs, 0oz. 0 inches topwater walk-the-dog 0; Record : 0lbs, 0oz. 0 inches topwater mouse 0; Record : 0lbs, 0oz. 0 inches lipless crankbait 0; Record : 0lbs, 0oz. 0 inches square bill crankbait 0; Record : 0lbs, 0oz. 0 inches deep diving crankbait 0; Record : 0lbs, 0oz. 0 inches prop bait 0; Record : 0lbs, 0oz. 0 inches spy bait 0; Record : 0lbs, 0oz. 0 inches medium sized rigged swimbait 0; Record : 0lbs, 0oz. 0 inches large rigged swimbait 0; Record : 0lbs, 0oz. 0 inches football jig 0; Record : 0lbs, 0oz. 0 inches swim jig 0; Record : 0lbs, 0oz. 0 inches grub/tube soft plastic 0; Record : 0lbs, 0oz. 0 inches finesse jig 0; Record : 0lbs, 0oz. 0 inches finesse worm 0; Record : 0lbs, 0oz. 0 inches chatterbait 0; Record : 0lbs, 0oz. 0 inches wakebait 0; Record : 0lbs, 0oz. 0 inches buzzbait 0; Record : 0lbs, 0oz. 0 inches soft plastic swimbait 0; Record : 0lbs, 0oz. 0 inches spoon 0; Record : 0lbs, 0oz. 0 inches Total fish: 28

  11. You beat the high schooler to it nice job, jigs and crankbaits
  12. I could do that and you mean there is a pattern. That jigs and t rigs catch biguns
  13. Hehe I caught a 22 incher last evening at my favorite golf course pond
  14. Yea. And I've got a pond that has the New York record swimming around in it, I just know it.
  15. Ok thanks Sadly I won't have them here to try in florida I'm only here for 2 more days and tackle warehouse won't be able to ship it that quickly
  16. How do you modify the floater to go under the surface? Where do you put the nail weights?
  17. Line thru trout lures- I was kind of confused to see a floating option for a swimbait. 1) Is it just dead sticked along the surface? 2) How effective is this method? Im looking into getting the savage gear line thru 3d trout, im leaning towards sinking or slow sinking. 3) Pros/cons of sinking vs. slow sinking?
  18. Hey all, Ive had strikeking shadalicious swimbaits for awhile and i have always had trouble rigging them properly. I bought gamakatsu weighted swimbait hooks and the swimbait always fell off and hooksets were terrible. I tried a jighead to experience the same result. I recently bought Yum money minnows (5") and the hooks that go with it, and those have another issue. I follow the rigging instructions but the the bait will not swim straight and doesnt stay under water. I tried my strikeking shadalicious swimbaits on the Yum hooks but the same thing happened. The only solution lately has been to use a 5/o gamakatsu ewg worm hook and a 3/8 oz tungsten bullet worm weight. I rigged the swimbait on this hook and it swam much better, i got a fish and lost one- hooksets still suck and i know its not proper to be rigging swimbaits on worm hooks :/ . Need some help on this. Thanks! Welds
