  1. I have a simple answer Just send me your lures
  2. The first bass striked just behind the bait... his calculations were a little off It's amazing what these bass can do.
  3. Nice fish! I would also go with the digital scale. Those mechanical grips can get unreliable especially if they haven't been tuned.
  4. That's really cool! Love it when you know you have them figured out. Thanks!
  5. Honestly I wish I could say the same. These bass are extremely finicky and like all long island bass, difficult to catch. I know that some other type of soft plastic that had a similar action may have worked too but definitely not lures such as crankbaits, buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, swimbaits, jig or even a senko.. They are that hard to catch
  6. I was fishing a small pond today that I have always had trouble finding and catching bass at. The bass I have caught here in the past have been very fat and healthy. Today I tried all kinds of finesse lures: jigs, senkos, shakey heads and wacky rigs. I managed to get a few dinks on the shakey head with a zoom trick worm. Around sunset, I tied on a lunker city salad spoon and began to swim it slowly on the surface and some really really fat bass decided to show up. This lure was a game changer for me. Try it out sometime, the bass cannot resist. Biggest one went 3 lbs flat... at 17 inches long! what a fatty !!!
  7. Hand tied jigs, such as those siebert outdoors makes, are sometimes cheaper than other jigs.
  8. What does bfs mean? I have always seen people call reels and rods bfs but I have no clue what it means.
  9. xcalibur zell pop. I have seen no other popper sit in the water like this one does. Its tail sits down in the water and when you pop it, it creates an amazing slurp sound Get one before the are out of stock everywhere. TW no longer carries them.
  10. 6' st croix trout series spinning rod ~$100. Super sensitive and strong
  11. Can you provide me a list of some of those? I like to see what new swimbaits come out but am never informed of when they come out
  12. 15 lb braid and you are not limited to those lures. You can throw anything as long as it isnt too heavy like over .6 oz Throw plastics, spinnerbaits, crankbaits anything u want
  13. You may have ticked the rod blank with a tungsten weight and that created a weak point.
  14. It is necessary that you fish the same body of water throughout the entire experiment.
  15. Get the 7'3" crucial. Its the best of the rods
  16. Both of them are garbage. Switch to sufix 832.
  17. Very slow. Fish are very specific in what they will take.
  18. What is your favorite fluorocarbon you use on your spinning setup? Im looking for something strong, sensitive and with as little memory as possible. Also, what pound test would you use for throwing weightless plastics, jigs, senkos and shakey heads on spinning gear? Thanks Welds
  19. Lesson learned lol
  20. I don't have any consistent spots. The frog fish I showed you above is from a small private pond. I don't have a boat so when I can I fish from shore blydenburgh and millers pond with very little luck. I fish millers sometimes from kayak with a little more luck but overall the bass fishing here on LI is challenging. The challenging part is having spots to fish. Most ponds are overfished and not well maintained at all in Suffolk County. It's a shame.
