Went fishing with friends the last day before I head off to Florida and my friend caught this fat prespawn bass on a jig Measured 15.5 inches long and weighed 2 lbs 8 oz (2.5 lbs)!!!!!! Super healthy female bass, all ready to spawn! The photo makes it look bigger, but it was just a really fat fish.

I will be using this thread to post reports, pictures and videos for when I am in South Florida with a fellow BR member, MIBassin. The first morning of fishing will be sunday morning. Here is what is coming......

In postspawn when I see schools of fry in about 3-4 ft of water, there is generally a bass hanging near by that is either defending them or picking them off as snacks. I have caught spawned out females, so I assume the females were looking for a snack. I would throw a popper a few feet past the school of fry and would slowly work it over the school. Sooner or later the bass hanging around the school would slam it. The popper probably appeared to be one of the fry that was dying, and served as an easy meal.

The has come to respool my reel for the new season, and I really do not feel like spending anymore money on expensive fishing tackle, including fishing line. So today I had a brilliant idea while flossing my teeth... I took a tug at my floss and tried to break it. Pretty tough stuff. Low stretch too. It's white also, just like the spiderwire "invisi braid". Do you think it is practical to spool up my reel with dental floss? The spool of floss is about 100 yds so that should cover my spinning reel. Which brand do you recommend? Johnson and Johnson? Oral B? Having a tough time deciding. Thanks, Welds P.S. I have Johnson and Johnson floss right now. Has anybody found a significant improvement in the Reach verison over the original? Thanks again.
