  1. I was out there at night a few weeks ago. We caught 1 nice one a few 2-3 lbr's. We left around 9:30pm, and from what I had understood the bite turned on much later. I'll be concentrating on the lake for a while now.
  2. Basically they are going try to eliminate the target shooters. While it's legal to do it, they will make it difficult. That's my .02
  3. The Alley was slow. We left around 9:30pm. We had 1 nice one around 4-5 lbs and a few small ones. According to the FWC officer I spoke with, when hunting season starts (even bow season), individuals are allowed to shoot. But, I have a feeling they are going to be watching very closely and make it difficult for people that are just target shooting out there.
  4. Hey Geo, Thanks for all the insight, you have a wealth of knowledge of that area. I did not hear any shooting going on, and FWC was very visible. I'm going to try to hit the Alley this afternoon after work, weather permitting. Lets see if that produces.
  5. Spoke with others out there, and they had pretty much the same luck. I was out on the Alley 2 weeks ago, and with water levels high, the fishing is tough.
  6. Got out there early Sunday morning. Started fishing the north side of the large lake with little success, water clarity was clear, but only managed one small fish on a topwater walking bait. As I moved into the canal, water clarity remained clear and caught two more small fish. When ever I reached a pump which was pushing water, it was loaded with Gar and Cyclids. Ended the trip around 11:00 due to storms coming in, and didn't want to take a chance with the wife on board.
  7. Great report. I thought I read somewhere they were going to start pumping the water into L29 to lower the water levels. Has this started?
  8. Same here.
  9. Will do.
  10. Went out on Sunday on L67. Fishing was really slow, lots of current, but no fish. Managed to fool 2 dinks, and I threw everything at them. Hopefully they start chewing again soon.
  11. Great report as always Geo. I work in the Weston (near Royal Palm and Weston Rd.), but have never fished any of the lakes. Need to give it a shot some day.
  12. Unfortunately, I've only fished from the ramps on the south side as well. Be careful on the lake now, the water levels are really low and lot's of props/lower units are getting damaged. Good luck out there and let us know how you do.
  13. Not sure how long ago you are referring to, but all the canals are still connected. From Holiday Park. you can run to Tamiami Trail then out west, you can also still run to the Alley, then west and north along Hwy 27.
  14. Great catch! As the water levels rise, fish will definitely scatter out of the canals. As far as numbers, a Senko style bait is tough to beat, a Zoom Trick worm is another go to bait when the bite is tough. I've most consistently caught my bigger fish flipping a creature bait. I use Bruiser Baits Crazy Craw with a 1/2 oz Flat Out Tungsten 90% of the times in the canals and have caught many in the 4-5lb range (as of lately, almost 1 every trip). Good luck out there.
  15. Thanks for the replies. I'm fishing from a boat. I've fished the area twice around 1 year ago, so I'm not really familiar with the area. Gonna give it a shot and see what happens. Just looking for somewhere a little different to fish. I'll report back my findings.
