  1. That's just it. I know I could get by with another aluminum boat. But at my age, if I'm going to buy another boat, I want it to be the boat that is GORGEOUS to my eye. I want my heart in it. And for Pete's sake, I can't stop drooling over these damned "Sparkly" Bass Boats.
  2. Wife and I were really liking the Targa V-19 Tournament series. That's something I would be comfortable with putting in the ocean from time to time. Just need to settle on a boat at this point.
  3. I've always laughed at Bass boats. So focused on one thing. Going fast and fishing on a fresh water lake. Can't even put that $90,000 boat in the ocean. What a waste of money!!! These days, not so much. I haven't had a boat now for over 7 years, and paddling around in a kayak is getting old. The idea of a Bass boat has really been warming on my lately. I'm all done with the ocean. Now, $100,000 for a Skeeter, yuh. That's to much. I could swing $55,000 on a Nitro Z18 though...šŸ¤” Not this year, but maybe next winter. Sat in one last weekend. First time ever in a Bass Boat. Wow. That's space to fish!!!
  4. Sometime after April 15th would be my guess.šŸ˜’
  5. Pulled the trigger last night on a Dobyns DC 735C FH. Going to stop by the Bass Pro today and pick up a reel.
  6. Thanks to all for the most appreciated replies. Now off to go pick out a rod for top water froggin' in the thick stuff... Gear šŸ’ has struck...
  7. I hate to say it out loud, but I am a casting reel only kind of guy. I remember those braided lines from 25ish years ago and no way those stiff lines would of casted on a casting reel. Time to go shopping. Can anyone recommend a braided line brand that they have found success with using a bait caster?
  8. Asking this as the last time I fished braided line was in 1988 when I was still living in FL...(yes, I'm that old...šŸ˜). I got away from it for many reasons that I won't get into here on this thread. I was to build out a top water set up for this season. I have questions though. Does a specific braid cast better on a bait caster versus on a spinning reel? Is braided line stile a PITA to cut? Sorry for asking such rookie questions, but I am sure that braided lines are better now than they were back when I was younger.
  9. I am in the same boat as you. I should of never sold my 16' Aluminum boat. I have a very nice fishing kayak, but d**n to I miss being COMFORTABLE while chasing my favorite species of fish. I'll keep paddling the kayak around as anything over $30,000 is above my budget. I am starting to seriously look at used boats nowadays.
  10. No Spot Lock on those motors though.
  11. That's just it. All said and done, it would be around $2800 to add a Minn Kota to the bow of my PA14. At that price point, I can just purchase an Old Town Sportsman Autopilot 136. Sooooo, holding off for right now until I make my mind up.
  12. Time to pull the trigger...
  13. Looks like a Minn Kota Terrova 12v, 55lb thrust, 45" shaft will fit the bill. Now I just gotta figure out the whole cutting the shaft thing...
  14. I was going to pull the trigger on a Motor Guide Xi3 with the 36" shaft this week. Going to bow mount it on a Hobie PA14. Well, Motor Guide no longer makes that Kayak specific model. So, back to the drawing board. It's really a blessing in disguise as both of the trolling motors I have owned on my boats(back in my younger days) were Minn Kota's. And I never had any issues with either one of them. I was going to purchase the motor guide as it was made for a Kayak with a shorter shaft. Now that I know I can't get the Kayak specific motor and I will need to cut the shaft, Motor Guide is off the table. I am looking for a 55lb thrust trolling motor with GPS (Spot Lock is a must have if I am going to put one on my kayak). Can anyone here recommend a Minn Kota Trolling motor along the aforementioned criteria? Also, how much of a PITA is it to cut a trolling motor shaft?
  15. I keep going back and forth in my head on whether or not I want to install a motor on my Hobie PA14. The thing is heavy enough as it is. Now add a trolling motor to the bow and a battery and she'll be right at around 135lbs. But the convenience of one sure would be nice... See the dilema?šŸ¤Ŗ
  16. Well, the Gear Monkey has been beaten back today. Just got home from Bass Pro. The 93sv that is on sale is the old UHD, not the UHD2. I like to purchase the latest and greatest when I make a purchase of this magnitude. Soooo, I'll wait and purchase the fish finder that I want this winter.
  17. Went to my local Bass Pro yesterday evening to get a new pair of water boots for my kayak. Picked up a pair of rubber HUK water boots. They won't work. To tight on the arch of my foot when I put them on over my waders. I will go back to Bass Pro this morning and return them. Probably wind up with a nice inexpensive pair of Teva's. Here's the kicker though. This month Bass Pro has my fish finder on sale. The Garmin 93sv UHD2 is on sale from $1199.99 down to $799.99. šŸ˜ Been going back and forth for a couple seasons now in regards to electronics on my kayak. I won't go over all the pros and cons here as that's another thread. Just DAMNIT. I know I'm going to walk out with that Garmin... Give me a nice winter project this year while the kayak is on saw horses in the basement. Install the new Fish Finder...
  18. Thanks to all for the replies. Just placed an order for 2 of the 3607's.
  19. So, I am looking for a 3600 Series Plano box. BUT, I want it to have NO CAMPARTMENTS. Nothing welded into it. I am looking for a 10.75x 7.25 W 1.75H Plano Box. And Like I said above, no compartments. Nothing welded. I got some sweet boxes like these with my Kayak, but now that I have moved onto a Fishing box for my tackle storage(Yak Attack), I am looking for something to work for my terminal tackle storage. I am in a Hobie PA 14. The boxes that came with the Kayak, which are very nice, are welded. So not much room for what I have in mind. I am looking for something for the compartment that is between my feet. Nice compartment, but what came with the Kayak doesn't work for me. I have searched the interwebs, and I have found nothing. So, I figured that someone here would have a direction that I can go. And now that I think more about this, Admin, please move this topic over to Bass Boats, Canoes, and Kayaks. My Bad...
  20. Nice to see Hackney having a good day today. And that shot of the Manatee this morning was cool as hell.
  21. on the St. Johns river. I got bored within 4 minutes watching a guy standing in his bow that was staring at a tv screen while I was sitting on my couch staring at a tv.
  22. Great Smallie fishing on Squam
